The way we are playing makes me confident of a win and a performance
but to expect a win is a bit arrogant,
Adkins has things to prove at the Lane.

3-1 to the Blades

You have no idea pal.
My posts reflect the reality of over 50 years a Blade and the approach of cautious optimism. I'll leave the uneducated approach to you.

Congratulations on your 50 years. Award yourself a sticky star. I've got nearly 60 years (pal) and I'm still able to look forward to the future with optimism instead of dwelling in the past. Furthering your education isn't about what you already know, it's about what you don't know. Give it a try and cheer up a bit.

I went to the cup game and first half they were pretty good. It ain’t going to be a walkover.

Just before the team is announced...here's my quess at how we'll line up

Henderson
Baldock Basham Egan O'Connell Johnson
Coutts Norwood Fleck
Clarke Sharp

Leeds 0 Brentford 1 after 64 minutes
Things all going to plan

Perhaps going a bit too much to plan

It is permissible to look beyond Bladey Inferiority Complex and take pride and enthusiasm in having a very good team.

Absolutely delighted he's picked the same team and absolutely the right thing to do.

Surely that is an opinion!?

You gotta be on summat a lot stronger than paper to come out with that nonsense

Thing is Pete, would you swap? Adkins was a dismal flop whilst at United, not doing a great deal better at Hull. Whatever the pros and cons, Wilder is streets ahead, and will remain so.

Depends which bit of paper you are reading. The most current one says that Wilder is better than Adkins by 18 places.

Was Adkins shit when he managed us? Absolutely.

Would I swap Wilder for Adkins? No chance.

Is Wilder currently doing better than Adkins? Yes, a lot better.

None of the above changes the fact that Adkins has a promotion to the Premier League on his CV and Wilder doesn't.

I do. It is however in no way contradictory to refrain from indulging in braggardly behaviour. That is the mark of the uncouth.

Thought we played well for the first 20 and then got sucked into Hulls trap of long ball, time wasting anti football.

How the hell there was only 2 mins of injury time is a joke. Should have been at least 5 or 6.

Made enough changes to be one or two up but didn’t take any of them.

Higher tempo required in the second half.

Bit too much long ball, a few bad decisions and tired legs. Get the energy gels on the go and let's have 'em.

C'mon Blades!

Not the best win ever but we go top going into the break. Was easily the better side but hull defended well. Glad to see we went unchanged think maybe Johnson could have come on a bit earlier to run at them and cause them some problem but enough of that we ARE TOP! Let's enjoy it blades. It's just made the last day of my holiday seem even better. I'll have a drink for each one of the starting 11 and the subs and fuck it the reserves to.

So (at least for now) we're top then eh? :) Keep these clean sheets coming lads. No doubt they'll become more vital as the season progresses but for now, Good job lads.

I have no issue with any one holding the opinion that Adkins is 'on paper' better than Wilder.

Passing it off as factual is daft though, and clearly wrong.

A counter argument would be that Wilder hasn't been an abject failure at three consecutive clubs in the way that Adkins has. In assessing who is the better manager, you have to take the whole picture into account. That leaves room for debate, ergo - it's not factual that Adkins is better than Wilder.

He has a promotion to the premier league, which Wilder doesn't have. Quite right, that's a fact. I'll give you that one!

One of those games that if you want to do anything in the League then you need to be scraping a win, no matter how it happens. Thankfully we’ve done just that.

Personally I thought we looked tired which was leading to us making far too many poor passes.

Overall though a very important 3 points!
