So after the fantastic result AND performance at Blackburn on Wednesday, we welcome Hull City to BDBL. Other results permitting, an excellent chance to be in the top 2 come the international break. Still early days in the season, but there are 20 odd teams who would love to be in our position right now.....

So....

Any team news? :)

Unchanged from the midweek game?

Surely that line-up can manage another game with the break coming up?

Or a mild shuffle of the pack?

There was a time that games such as this would be viewed with trepidation by Blades fans, and while nothing can be taken for granted, under Wilder that fear is subsiding. Really looking forward to todays game, and while always will be nervous initially, I really think we could be winning today with some swagger, and at the very least catching up some of the goal difference on those above. An early goal for us today would really put them on the back foot, on our way to a 4-0 victory. Confident yes, carried away maybe, let's see at 5pm today.

Enjoy the game whatever the result, and definitely likely to see Coutts again at some point this afternoon....

Need an early goal today. There won't be much attacking from them and we saw first half v Brum how frustrating that can be

agree .. early goals make teams come out and then we hammer them .. it’s a sign of how far we have come that teams come for a point

I am an advocate of playing the strongest side but I think there maybe a couple of changes today, wouldn’t be surprised if Leon came in for McG and Lundstrum come in for one of the Midfield three (sorry).

Coutts probably not ready to start yet

Agree with your views on this. I think we are feeling a lot more confident and are expecting to get results wherever we go now. As for playing a poor team like Hull City, with a buffoon of a manager like Adkins, at home, when we are in fine form...I mean...not wishing to tempt fate here, but you have to expect Blades to win this one. And it's not unreasonable to expect then to win it by some margin.

I'd keep the same team I think. I'd probably look to extend Coutts game time a bit by bringing him on earlier. I suppose it will depend on whether we've got the game "in the bag" earlier? If, as I suspect, this game will be all over after an hour, I'd bring Coutts on then. And maybe Clarke as well. Just to see if he can get back into his stride a bit in front of goal against a poor team.

I'm expecting a minimum of 4 goals today from United, my gut feeling is more than that actually. 5-0 to the Blades!

hope I'm wrong but expecting similar to Norwich at home last season, early goal is key for us,God help us if they score first

I’m expecting, as a minimum, Clarke (the mom in lasts seasons fixture) to replace McGoldrick.

I’m also expecting a similiar game to Birmingham.
Adkins will know the longer it’s 0-0, then the mood will change and the home crowd will put pressure on United.
There’ll sit back defending in numbers and try to hit us on the break.
The ball will spend a lot of time in their penalty area but we’ll struggle to create a single clear chance.
Reckon set pieces will be key, our best chance of scoring will be from a corner or free-kick.

Hope I’m wrong but my prediction 1-1
Reckon it’ll be a frustrating stinker of a match.
We’ll score from a set piece 15 minutes from the end but they’ll equalise in the final minutes.
The draw will feel like a defeat and we’ll feel like we’ve been robbed.
Then queue the big criticism of United, Clarke, Lundstrum and Wilder with his negative subs.

Will be a big mistake to play a lesser than best team today. We have a 2 week rest after today, play our strongest with solid bench.

Hoping to add another :) to my form tracker today 3-1 Blades

I expect a comfortable, professional 2-0 win, nothing fancy just get the job done. Sharpe DM to notch

It's going to be tough, Hull have realised their place and that they are in a relegation fight. They've just played 'Boro and Leeds and managed to hold the score down to a goal a piece for each of these clubs and coincidentally they both scored in the 51st minute. They may be a poor side but they can defend and also stick to the task even after going a goal down, I think this will be harder than Blackburn who had a go but hadn't really played any of the big hitters before us. Still hoping for 3 points but can't see too many goals.

Hull have threats that we will need to manage but let's be honest, they are on their arse at the minute.

We on the other hand look a much more ruthless outfit this season and seem to have been getting better each and every game since the draw against Brum.

I will be disappointed if we can't put them away, but a point wouldn't be a disaster and will keep things ticking over.

I can picture the scenario where we play an unchanged side and we then play relatively poorly looking short on energy after playing 3 matches in a week. You can bet Wilder will get stick with loads of our fans saying “it was obvious some of the players needed resting”.

Of course EVERY player can play 3 games in a week BUT it’s virtualy impossible to play at the same high intensity.
Hope I’m wrong and even if we’re not at our best we should still win.

Absolutely. Some of the arrogance on this thread is appalling. It's what we despise the pig's for yet some here are no better.

Are you kidding me? Hull are shite and have a shite manager. They should be on the end of a pasting today on current form. This is fact not arrogance.

Your ultra-negative posts have a stench of pork.

Both of you are correct. Can be a thin line between confidence and arrogance.

Fortunately our manager and players won’t under estimate Hull and will give them full respect but he’ll be very confident of gaining 3 points. He often mentioned that we’re a humble club etc.

I think the big difference between Wilder and most other managers is that Wilder doesn’t seem overly concerned about the opposition,
His main focus always seems to be how our players perform more than the result.

As he says “if we’re at it....then he’s apeh...the results take care of themselves”

I’d be very surprised if Clarke isn’t in the team today. Only other change I can imagine is one of the full backs being swapped

You have no idea pal.
My posts reflect the reality of over 50 years a Blade and the approach of cautious optimism. I'll leave the uneducated approach to you.

3rd game of the week is going to be tough & I can see a few rotations because most of this team cant play 3 90mins in 7 days & be at their best, also adkins seems to have a better record at bramall lane as a opposition manager than he ever did as home manager. but I feel confident as Hull are pretty bad currently & proof that v hull when he stepped up a few gears in the league cup we blew them away it was only blind luck not talent that saw them into the 2nd round

I’m on my way to bdtbl now. Fancy Clarke to stick away his 1st goal of the season today hopefully?. COYRAWW. UTB

As always I'd take any kind of performance that gets us 3 points and the chance to go top. Form will come and go, winning with style again would be fantastic but 3 points is all I'm bothered about right now.
