So potentially tonight could be the nights guys, and our task in that is to beat SISU's :) Coventry. And assuming we do then if Fleetwood don't win that's basically it. If they lose and we win that's mathematically IT as far as promotion is concerned as I'm sure we all know. However Coventry arrive in good form, winning their last 3 and on the back of the ..ahem, 'cup' win. Looking at the table after 40 games though, you have to assume we are going to be too good for them, but we still need to concentrate and go about business as usual. With Bolton's result last night it's important we win though, and I'm sure Bolton fans will be wishing us the very best of luck tonight?!!?! :)

Anyway....

Any team news? :)

Presumably unchanged from the last match?

With Lavery on the bench?

Or juggle it slightly?

Should be a great crowd tonight, and if things start off and go well, the atmosphere could be electric. Really hope you enjoy the game tonight, and I'll certainly be listening in. 3-1 Blades victory but I really have no idea how Fleetwood will get on! Then onto the next game in order to achieve bigger and better.....

We just need a result, I'm keeping an eye on keeping ahead of Bolton. UTB.

Tougher game than it would probably would have been a couple of months ago but Wilder will not let them bottle it. Onwards and upwards.

The players will be well aware of tonight's importance and should it not be tonight we still have games ahead to confirm the target of promotion first then the title before the Chezzy game.

I'm hoping that first step is tonight.

In the words of Blur "It really, really, really could happen"

1st chance tonight, if it doesn't happen we'll get a second bite at it on Saturday. It's if not when we go up. A win tonight is more important for winning the league than the promotion race

wonder if with 20mins to go and were already comfortably winning and the fleetwood games 0-0 youl here a few "come on oxford's"

..
COME ON OXFORD !!!!

Don't think it will happen tonight myself.....confident that we will beat the whistleblowers but fancy Fleetwood to get a point at least at a Check-a-trade hungover Oxford.....just got a feeling it is written in the stars for Wilder to clinch promotion at the club he won it with last year, it's just one of those things that happens in football.....promotion confirmed with victory at Sixfields on Saturday for me.

The days of this team bottling games are long gone I reckon. Loads of big crowds at the Lane this season with loads of opportunities to blow it but they have come through almost all of them. As Wider himself said that period where we played Scunny and Bolton in consecutive weeks in front of 27k + defined the season. Depite playing our best football of the season we almost blew it against Scunny but had the balls to get something before absolutely dismantling Bolton. Add the Boxing day crowd and the Millwall game into the mix and for me they have proved they can handle the expectation placed upon them.

If we just play our game tonight with confidence then Cov will struggle to keep up. A tough game for sure, but they all are and I think that's how we like it nowadays because we have to be at our best. I think Wilder and Knill are perfectionists and this has rubbed off on the players.

Good luck for tonight guys and I hope you absolutely smash Coventry; their morons were also on the pitch and letting off flares at our place in January ...... although a 3-0 drubbing took the wind out of their sails.

Whether you win the title tonight or on Saturday you’ll be guaranteed a very warm welcome at Sixfields and your achievement will be roundly applauded by our fans. Wilder and Knill are held in the highest of regards after last season’s promotion and although we were gutted that they moved on afterwards, we fully appreciated the history that CW has with the Blades and his personal feelings towards the club. There can’t be too many managers around who can boast promotion with 3 different clubs over a 7-year period.

Enjoy life in the Championship and beyond !

Coventry will be looking for a win, any other result is no use to them. They will therefore be playing into our hands and we should walk through the gaps in their defence. They are also fucking shit and we are at the top of our game.

What could possibly go wrong.....

I presume you remember who I am but if not
Scunthorpe fan here

Beat Coventry please they are disgraceful protesting trying to get games ruined or abandoned and then saying its because they want new owners, its not its just being a bellend I had to mute the sound on my TV because of all the whistling they was doing at the game on TV

Also now Mark Robins is in charge do it in style. I still remember the 5-0 hammering we got by blackpool when he was in charge of us.

Cheers

Where would you suggest for a beer near the ground pre-match on Saturday please?

How can you have missed Lavery's injury FFS.....

Could have really done with him tonight, I would've started him for sure, this game suits him more than Hanson.

I'm more concerned about regaining the 6 point lead over Hoofball Wanderers than I am about getting promoted tonight. Promotion will happen regardless, we shouldn't be throwing away any points tonight if we want to make sure we win the league.

The only real 'pub' in the stadium area burnt down during an FA Cup tie against Northwich Victoria and, sadly for you, reopens on 10th April !

If you are driving and get there in good time I recommend "Carr's Bar" under the West Stand which is normally available for away fans .. alternatively a stone's throw from the ground there are bar areas in TGI Friday, the Walter Tull Flaming Grill and Frankie & Benny's. If you eat in Frankie & Benny's and park outside they'll give you a car parking voucher for free to stick on your windscreen. I suspect TGI and the Walter Tull will do likewise.

If you are coming by train there are pubs on the St.James' Road on the walk up from the station .... Thomas Beckett, Foundryman's Arms, and The Sevens.

Totally agree - winning the league is the only aim for me.

The Walter Tull at the top of the hill is the best bet if you're going straight to the ground. Home and away fans allowed in there. If you're coming from the station the Thomas A Beckett or the Sevens are good and break up the walk from station to ground.

What's the mood like in Northampton? I know 15th doesn't make for an exciting conclusion to the season but given you were looking at a winding up petition 18 months ago, seeing a promotion and then setting for a finish well clear of safety has to feel good.

Relatively satisfied. After the mess Page made, Edinburgh has done a good job steering us away from a nailed on relegation battle. There have been some good moments and it's intriguing to see how JE goes about rebuilding the side in the summer as there are some areas that need improving.

To quote Mr Wilder ................ we're relatively 'appeh !!

Enjoy your night.

What sort of shape are you in at home? Do you think you're likely to get a result against us?

I'd say a draw's a possible for us ..... we're sounder at the back now that Page has been replaced by Justin Edinburgh.

Winning tonight and then settling for a draw on Saturday will lead to a love-in for Messr's Wilder and Knill from all 4 stands at Sixfields (correction: from the 3.5 stands).

That's you winning tonight ..... not us !

You seem to have got it together at home recently. And I remember you having a strong looking spine at Bramall Lane. I think it'll be a tight game, either a draw or a one goal win for us.

Who's your main attacking threat at the minute?

For me promotion will be there at northampton. As i cant see Fleetwood losing back to back games. Tonight shouldve been straight forward but after efl trophy final this is now probally the worst time to play coventry. As Mark Robins got them playing well theyve won the last 3 games v port vale, bristol rovers & oxford. You would think confidence will be up after Wembley win, the opening goal will be all important

we have habit of losing to seemingly doomed L1 sides we should smash 1 win all season hartlepool who outplayed us & the on verge of liquidation Pompey who smashed us 3-0. come to mind

Whatever the score, we at least know the team will give it everything they've got. Proud Blades time.

Marc Richards although he's gone off the boil a bit of late ... Alex Revell's a strong target man but has been injured of late, I think he's due to come back soon but sure if he'll be fit for this weekend. To be honest a significant proportion of our goals this season have come from midfield this season, in particular John Joe O'Toole (JJOT) who's on 12. Matt Taylor with set pieces can be useful.

We just signed a young lad from Buckingham Town in the UCL who's scored 62 goals in 32 games this season (Leon Lobjoit) ......... but he's not eligible to play until next season !!

I see O'Toole might be out injured? That would be a boost for us. He's a good player seemed like the heart of your team.
