A heroic effort that. Brilliant. And perfectly managed by Wilder who made exactly the right changes in the game.

Henderson kept us in it to 1-0. They all kept us in it after that. O’Connell was magnificent - ball-blocking, ball-heading, ball-bursting. Hero.

Massive, Massive result.

There were points, down to 10, with Brentford camped in our half, Bash on a booking and Norwood still on the pitch that I was having nightmare flashforwards to us having lost 2-1, with Bash getting a second yellow and Norwood picking up a booking. An Oldham 2012 if you will.

Fucking love this team and the character they show. I'd take a point on Saturday right now.

That is why you are at the top and we are not going to challenge. Great battling performance from the Blades and we were all fur coat and no knickers. Loads of possession but nothing in the final third.

Well done Blades - you deserved that win.

Credit to you for coming on here. I think I would be furious the other way around, and sulking. You had 29 shots, but only 5 on target. It seemed that you were snatching at the chances and, from our perspective, it was good to see so many speculative efforts rather than passing through for a clear chance.

I hope you finish above Wednesday!

It's all set up for another heroic failure season. Still, good while its lasted.

I am well pissed off! We really should have got at least a point. We were well o top and should have scored before that stupid, daft penalty we conceded out of nothing.

Evened up by crass stupidity by Madine rightly punished by a strong referee (for once). I thought we would pull you apart and keep the ball moving until you tired but we played into your hands by changing the formation and trying to play through 2 solid banks of 4.

If, if if, Maupay has scored early, Mokotjo's shot had gone in instead of hitting the post and what was Henderson doing with that header off the line from his own clearance - totally bizarre!

Enough of that wittering. You were brilliant in the second half and fully deserved the win. Now go and beat Leeds please!

..... And those who haven't done so already please buy my Bob Booker book - he's coming up to the club shop for the Forest game for a signing!!

It was a backpass, he couldn't pick the ball up/handle it...

There were about 3 points in the 92nd minute where I thought Bash was about to get a 2nd yellow after 3 attempts to take out a Brentford player as he ran from halfway. Luckily he missed all 3!

Madine and Hogan looked fine together vs an admittedly awful Reading. An issue with Hogan on Saturday was that he was extremely isolated following McGoldrick dropping deep. Doubtful that’ll happen with Madine alongside him.

My fault this. I genuinely didn’t foresee any possibility Hogan would be isolated up front again.

I’d consider subbing off Norwood here. We’re unlikely to be seeing much more of the ball the rest of the game, and while he’d been very good till the red he’s more likely in this situation to pick up a booking.

This, in hindsight, would have been a mistake. Yes there were a few instances where he perhaps could have perhaps made more of an effort to get a tackle in, but he was sensible and I lost count of the number of times he made useful touches on the ball when under pressure to find someone someone rather than just lump it. He was excellent.

I’ve said this on other threads, but I vouch for the book 100% - a brilliant read and a lot about what it means to be an honorary Blade (and a Bee).

Me in the 2nd half

I was wondering where the book plug would appear! How’s it going anyhow? Hope sales are healthy?

As to the football last night, I bet some fans were surprised with what a solid player O’Connell has turned into? Presume you know all about Egan already. He’s been solid for us after a rather ordinary start. He does look slow at times but he reads the game very well and his positioning is very good to make up for it.

I reckon you could have done with someone like Scott Hogan up front last night? You should have a word with Villa, I think he’ll be available at the end of the season and I don’t think we’ll be in the queue!
