another one being that wednesday found some outstanding form when it really mattered.
...we failed to beat the teams challenging us for promotion enough and generally bottled it in big games. Sadly, nothing has changed.
Not getting my hopes up. Hope I'm wrong.
Only getting 2 points from the last possible 9 was what did it.
it was actually 2 points...and we would have won at Exeter if we needed to..even with 10 men. The team switched off in the second half as they must have realised they couldn't go up.
However, you could say we got 20 points out of the last 9 games last season.....not exactly the worst run

We would not have needed any more than those two points if we hadn't inexplicably self-destructed against Oldham.
Yes but you can't say that for sure. That match was still a long way from the end of the season.
Nothing is ever certain
If we had beaten Stevenage and Exeter we certainly would have gone up.
And had we beaten Oldham and then got the results that we actually did get after that match we would also have gone up!
Yes but your proposition is a far bigger stretch than mine.
Disagree. I only need one result to be different to what actually happened. You need two results to change.

A deeper reason for our failure to go up was the loss of Henderson for virtually the whole season and that of Morgan for most of it. It was the failure to score in so many games that played a major part - when Henderson reappeared
for the last few games our scoring rate improved noticeably. Morgan's leadership skills were also sorely missed.
