The Implications of Clough's Footballing Morals.

What's crazy about discussing facts? Clough stated what is views and we all know how football works. And there was me thinking that was what forums were all about .

As for long titles blimey 6 words! And there was me thinking a title was designed to describe the content of a thread in order to give others an idea of whether the content of the thread would be of relevance or not and whether they would want to read it , Maybe I should have just been completely vague and entitled it "Cluff" to suit some :D

Sticks and Stones and all that T'old Judge. If that doesn't want to read it don't feel like I am holding you to ransom or owt fella :D

You see I thought on this forum forum it was about giving opinions, taking responses, and creating a debate...

If.. A, you didn't think clough would sign GMS if they wanted more than 80k because of morals, then was it morally wrong for nigel to move to liverpool for 2.2 million ? And get paid millions in wages way back in the day....

Or.. B, its a response because a player who he has identified,.chased and bidded on realised he was getting a cheap deal, because he was a cheap option due to a contract running out,.was clough trying to exploit the dundee situation, somethings better than nothing??

Or..C, we couldn't afford 250k for a promising young lad, who clearly is good enough for the scottish champions ( not that being scottish champions is difficult) and of course we'll miss our targets again, and go for loans..

Is anybody still surprised that we continuously miss out transfer targets when we take the piss on a whole new level with our offers, remember the coady debacle, seems familiar doesn't it...

Surely we deserve to know what's going on transfer wise.
Is Clough a puppet being manipulated by the board? Nobody knows the answer to that but playing mind games with the fans regarding transfers does us no good.

The board through Phipps said in December that the manager had submitted his proposals and they had been agreed with cash to support the plans.

Nobody can be clearer than that.

Oh, and well done for starting a thread,.wonder what everybody else would do if people just commented on things and not put their head over the trench and started threads..

People have all these opinions but don't start threads..

I think Clughs attitude can only take us so far. At some point if you want game changing players, then you might have to go shopping for a few cunts.

The problem is god help us if we ever hit a really bad patch . It wont be the board who drive Mr Clough out , it will be us fans . Even if we got Messi on loan in the transfer window , we would moan by saying why have we signed another midfield midget.

I do feel Mr Clough is looking / shopping for a few cunt sort of players , with attitude , but they have to have the right attitude . You can be a twat / hard on the field , without getting sent off every week , or being a bad apple / influence in the dressing room.

What eighty grands worth.
We're a fucking laughing stock in the transfer market

Me a bit touchy? You took everything out of context and put together your own assumptions about how you felt I was knocking Clough as a whole and felt I would be a better manager than him. I that isn't how it was intended then you need to both read threads in full and put your view across better because that is how it looks.

Oh dear.....I used your post to make a general observation. Your comments prompted me to respond in a way that's clearly upset you, so it's best that we agree to disagree rather than get into a series of 'you said, I said' repetitions.

I think were halfway through a month where the club were going to do allsorts to make sure we can mount a challenge and make us competitive for a very demanding January, they've only got another fortnight to feed bullshit to everyone and then they can relax again until the summer.

I don't know if it is the Board not providing any investment, Clough being hopeless when it comes to transfers or a combination of both.

What is clear is that the fans have done their bit by turning up in incredible numbers given we are in L1 for yet another season. Unless we bring in some quality it looks like the play offs at best - and we all know where that will end.

I'm fed up of the likes of Phipps spouting the same old rubbish. From what I can see, nothing has changed since the Prince came on board. We still lack any ambition and are punching way below our weight.

Anything less than top 2 in this woeful division just isn't good enough.

Discussing facts ?
The implications of cloughs footballing morals ? Sounds like a bbc four screenplay

If it were 31st January and we had signed nobody then I'd agree with you.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG
The 31st January will see another five or six games pass us by. The whole point of the transfer window is to start looking ahead and get people in early.

Can't disagree with that but sometimes things don't go to plan. There have been other missed opportunities though.

Phipps was hardly going to say the manager has submitted his plans and we told him to shove em up his jacksy was he:rolleyes:

To be fair to you highpeakblade and all replies , i think all blades deep down ,appreciate what Mr Clough is doing , his morales and how he conducts business , but it is the lack of movement in the transfer market , to date , if truth be known , that gives us all itchy feet. Transparency from the club is the key , and not get false hopes up.

We all come at it from different angles , on the reason why nothing is happening in the JTW . To be honest its only Mr Clough who i believe , when he says owt about players and finances .

Let's not forget that a number of people have to agree before a transfer can be completed.
We don't know why a deal could break down. Club x2 , player, family, agents, all involved directors other clubs.
We might bid over the top (unlikely, I know) Clough may want a particular player, sometimes there are a lot of hoops to jump through before a deal is done.

I would rather take part in this than drop our standards and take on another old hack for a last pay day.

Surely getting COG in ready for Saturday against MK would have made sense wouldn't it?

Brighton have made it quite clear, repeatedly, that he'll only go if they can get a replacement in. They only let him come to us in the first place because they were able to loan Darren Bent - and had he not been lost to Derby, we'd be negotiating this deal from the position of having O'Grady still with us. Like it or not, we have to wait. This is what naturally happens when we're after decent squad players rather than players way out of a club's first team picture (where there is more of a need to get rid rather than replace). Clough couldn't have really been clearer on this - and said that might mean having to wait to the end of the month.

We could of course kick up a fuss, say we want him now or not at all, but there's then the danger someone else would come in and get him. If waiting means we get him, it seems worthwhile.

People can stand in one of two camps:

In Clough we Trust

or

In Clough we don't trust, or we don't quite trust him enough because of various reasons already made by a certain few on here who will never, ever be pleased with any manager we get or what he does or who he signs or tactics we plays or decisions he makes, (that if truth be known are in the best interests of ALL parties) and continues to want to undermine them for what ever reason suits their purpose until the day he leaves.

Strikes me Fulwood that you are at times, the biggest moaner on this forum. Of course, it's usually directed at anyone who offers any sort of critiscm about the club, structured or otherwise!

I must say it quietly, but if we pay out £1.5m for a right back in the third division, I'll think we've lost the plot. I'm probably in a club of 5 people though.

If you hadn't counted me, make that 6. I like Brayford well enough but he's become something of an obsession. It's like a form of mass hypnosis.

I'd much rather see the COG deal sorted out. I suppose Doyle would be my pipe dream.

Why sign Brayford when we've got the "Mighty Flynn", come on without, come on within, you ain't seen nothing like the "Mighty Flynn" :)

Agree with this. Flynn is a much better player. I always thought Brayford looked at bit shakey defensively and Flynn is much superior in attack.
