I know a lot of you dislike the derby, if you do, scroll on. This thread isn’t for you.

We’re a little under a week to go now and I’m interested to hear what you genuinely think the outcome will be following one of the most glorious Sheffield doubles in a while this weekend.

Given Wednesday’s average/bland start to the season, I still don’t think you can totally write them off in this game. They’ll understand the importance of this match to the fans and the City. Saying that, is Rohl one for geeing his players up like Wilder will be? I’m pretty sure Wilder will have been speaking to the players about this fixture for the last few weeks and will be building them up nicely to perform and be up for it.

Particularly our spine - Cooper, CB’s, Souza/Blaster, Moore - think these more than anyone else will be bang up for it!

My prediction is a close game for the first 20mins with us shading possession but I think our press will demoralise any creativity they might bring and we’ll be much more on top as the game grows.

0-0 HT
2-0 FT (Moore, Hamer)

COYRAWW

EDIT: sod keeping powder dry too, just gimme a prediction!!! 😄

If it was any other club, with their squad, league position and form I’d be predicting a fairly routine 2-0 home win in the same fashion as the Stoke game. As it’s them lot I’m making no predictions.

Who knows how it’ll pan out. Feels nice to have got a boyhood blade as captain and a blade in charge. Hopefully that gives us a bit more bite rather than ‘it’s just another game’ that some of the outsiders spout to try and calm things down.

I think they've been very unpredictable. According to a mate of mine, he's plays a very attacking style, regardless of who they're playing. Hopefully this will play into our hands. I am really confident in our defence and I think they will struggle to break us down. I can't see Smith getting the better of Souttar. If we play like we've played the last two games, we should win. I do think there will be goals.

I'm quietly confident (conscious of the irony of typing that on the forum) but it's the derby so pretty much anything can happen.

A pig pal predicts brewster will score, and they'll get a penalty.

He thinks they're going to score their penalty too.

It will snow so the game will be called off and played when they are 50 points ahead at the top of the league? Only only in Wendies minds! UTB

Any result is possible, pretty much like any Champ game.

Most of the Wendy friends and colleagues I have aren't remotely hopeful but that doesn't mean much in reality.

On paper, we should be the stronger team, much like in our matches against Watford, Stoke, Swansea, and Derby, where we faced well-organised opponents but saw them off.

However, next Sunday will be a different story. They’re likely to step up their game, and our fans will have high expectations, which could add pressure and affect our performance.

In all honesty, I anticipate a draw. If we look beyond the rivalry and consider the larger picture, a draw would mean we've dropped two valuable points.

I’m interested to see how they approach the game, attacking us will probably fall into our favour as we play on the break quite a lot, if they sit in like they did the past couple of times it could be a nervy frustrating afternoon.

On paper we win comfortably, in reality it’s the biggest fixture they’ve had since they last played us so they’ll be frothing at the snout.

I think we’ll bottle it and lose, but I know this is a pessimistic view and isn’t based on logic.

I can’t watch these games on tv, they’re horrific, so I will probably busy myself somewhere without phone or tv for a couple of hours.

I'm usually pessimistic b4 these matches and we all know that form can go out of the windowbut I honestly think we are way better than them and will do them 2-0.

If they try and attack us we will tear them apart and if they sit back I think we have enough trickery with R.S. and Hamer to break them down. Big Vini will rule the midfield, Soutts will win everything in the air and our flair boys will do the rest.

My prediction - 1-0 to the Blades. A dull, nerve-wracking affair, as they usually are.

Sheffield derbies aren't pleasant, or enjoyable occasions, unless the whistle has blown on 90 minutes and your team has secured the 3 points. Even then, it's more a sense of massive relief that you haven't lost to the inbreds of S6.

I will reply on Wednesday after we’ve both had our midweek game. Momentum, confidence, injuries will all play a part. If we were playing them midweek I’d go for a 3-0 blades win.
