I had forgotten the compensation thing - I stand corrected.

I don't think Long is the finished article but he's the only player who's out of contract that I would offer a new deal to. He does some things well and he might get better as he gets older.

Agree. Ideally I'd like a new number 1 with Long as back up but we could and should look to spend funds strengthening elsewhere first as starting next season with George as no1 would not be the worst thing if itmeant we could use the budgetfor a Baptiste or equivalent.

Also he has shown he is improving in his weaker areas and has always been a good shot stopper. He needs to communicate better but is under 23 - a good 10 years off his peak as a 'keeper.
