The Brooks Conundrum

If we got £15m for Brooks, only a small proportion would go to Wilders budget (note number of times he’s mentioned in interviews about nagging the owners to give him the Walker sell on money), and we’d then get quoted stupid money for any players we wanted to buy as replacement as they know we’ve got money in the bank. The theory of us using that money to buy 2-3 exciting £5m prospects who ultimately make us stronger never happens.
Got a link to any of these interviews where he talks about nagging the owners for money as I can't remember hearing it once?

You seem to be taking this very personally. I don’t rate Carruthers, it’s as simple as that. Have you got some sort of weird affiliation with the bloke?

To be fair Danny , you didn't rate Basham either . What was it you said to me when I pulled you up on your character assasination of him , ah yes , I remember ...... I'd be happy seeing the Blades play in the Meadowhall Sunday league if I rated Basham as that's all he's fucking good for ....... opinions are opinions Danny and you have every right to express yours . But it may be worth adding a semblance of humility and respect to your posts when dealing with other posters expressing theirs , afterall it's not like you've a great reputation for spotting talent is it .

And the winner of today's wind up post is....

I can't believe that any Blade who has seen him at least a couple of times, could possibly write that. He has done enough so far to establish a minimum fee level starting in double figure millions..

He's got potential, I'll give you that . But the facts of the matter right now are this . Firstly , he's a sub , not an automatic first choice . Secondly , he's got 1 good game and a good substitute appearance behind him . Third , he's scored 1 ( one ) goal . Fourth hes flattered to decieve virtually every other time hes played in the first team . And lastly , no one knows where to play him . Is he a striker , a winger , a central midfielder ????

He's got potential, anyone can see that , but the claims he's already our best player ever who's worth tens of millions is a little bit premature don't you think ?

No, I just think he deserves a proper chance to show what he can do before he’s written off. Remember this is a forum to discuss SUFC?

The apparent queue of premier league suitors, as well as the Wales Manager appear to be leaning more to 'potential superstar' ?

I think selling him in January could derail our promotion push (can't believe I'm saying that), as not only will we be losing a player that can turn a game on it's head, but it will have a massive negative effect on the fans. I've been watching United for over 30 years, and we've never had a player in that time who can do what he does. The time to sell him is when he outgrows us in maybe a year and a half (if he carries on at his current rate of progression, and assuming we haven't made the step up to the Premier League). Unless we are desperate for money, keep him at all costs. Players like him are the reason we watch football.

Agreed buddy. I would just say for the sake of balance that everyone has their price, and I mean EVERYONE.
Also to be fair, the reason we love what's happening at the Lane right now is not down to any individual player, it's a completely United club doing everything right, and playing football in the best manner most have ever seen.
As it happens I don't think he will be sold in January.

I'd prefer Duffy to start ahead of Brooks.
I think the outcomes have been better.
Give brooks the the last thirty minutes every game.

That's almost exactly the way I see things . Duffy is head and shoulders above Brooks right now . That could change in a year or two but Brooks , for now , is an understudy to a better player .

I think the key to what you've stated is the word " apparent " . Name me one PL club that's made their interest in him clear ? You can't , because there isn't one that has .

Absence of evidence is not necessarily evidence of absence.
Are you doubting that he is currently one of the most talked about young talents in the country ?

In the France game, he was played on the wrong side and still set up two excellent chances. Did more than Woodburn, Lawrence Ramsey and the other young lad (foreign sounding name?). I'm mystified how you thought he looked out of his depth. I think huge money must be considered for any player though. Everybody has a price.
Quite right
The only thing i noticed was that i thought he looked a little in awe of it all whereas he didn't look fazed at all at the Sty or Bellend Road.

That will alter with exposure and experience.

As to selling him?
Fuck Off!

I want to watch the lad every week and I want to see him destroy teams, in his Blades shirt, for many years to come.

Ah, I was completely on my own in thinking Basham was useless as a central midfielder, clearly.

Yawn.

This is about David Brooks both Samir Carruthers.

Amazing how many posters on here have strong opinions about Brooksy and wether he should stay or leave but don't even know what position he plays

Agreed. For me though, he’s more of use to us competing with the forwards than for Duffy’s role. We probably can’t draw too much from the QPR game, as most on display had off-days, but Brooks didn’t look as anywhere near as effective as Duffy in the role, or as Brooks has done with a more forward role. He may develop into that role in time, but isn’t near it yet.

It's a pertinent point, if players are written off after 20 games but ones with ten under their belts still need time.
Brooks is different Danny. He has shown in 10 games that he is already a better player than Carruthers, and is now a full international to prove it.

Show me where I've even remotely suggested you were the only one to doubt Bashams ability . You cant , because i havent .

Now show me an example where you've absolutely slaughtered a player AND any poster disagreeing with you .

Humility and respect aren't really your strong points are they ?

I think they're both very good players. What makes me laugh is the hypocrisy of saying on one hand that Brooks needs more time, after 10 games, but Carruthers is no good after 20. Both could be good players for this club for years to come. One may not, but it's still too early to write him off IMO.

What exactly are you on about? Because quite frankly you’ve lost me and brought this up for no reason.

I knew Joe Ironside wasn’t good enough after 3 games.

Brooks and Carruthers are at different levels. Completely different stages of their careers. Different types of players.

No hypocrisy at all.

Blimey, he backs up an opinion and doesn't resort straight to insults. It's not that bad after all, is it Dan?

What am I on about ? Ok , I'll see if I can make this any clearer for you.

Firstly , you really struggle to see footballing talent when it's right in front of you .

Secondly , you almost always direct abuse of a personal nature to any other poster who has the temerity to disagree with you .

Thirdly , in light of point one , your view is the final and defining word in any discussion according to you . And if it isn't, see point two .

I guess the point I'm trying to convey is this . Tone your posts down a little bit as you come across as a twat who hasn't got a fucking clue .

Im sure in the real world aren't like that at all .

I don’t need to back anything up, you brought Carruthers up on a thread about David Brooks and totally sidetracked it.
