I've just read Gage's latest article about the champagne being on ice and it got me thinking. We've had very little to cheer about in recent years, and for the large part - our stay in league has been shite. But at the moment, we've got it good and I'd like to take a minute to appreciate the good bits, possible promotion or champions elect aside, what are your current best bits about being a Blade. Let's enjoy them whilst things are a bit better for once! Christ knows we deserve a bit of positivity, the most loyal fans in the football league.

I'll start...

1. Our manager is one of us.

2. It's nice to go into a match day expecting to be entertained and knowing you're likely to win.

Any more?

Home is were the heart is .

for me, I have never been ashamed of supporting Sheffield United and since moving down here, over the years people more or less go "oh so you don't like football" or some other shit off the cuff remark this year people don't seem as ready to say shit like that, as they and the rest of the UK can see what we are made off, I will always be proud to be a blade, but at the moment I can puff out my chest a little bit more than usual.

Having a manager you can trust 100% is really quite surreal.

As is having a team that plays quality football and has a perfect mentality. That always seemed impossible.

A manager who speaks our language - a la your profile pic.

Double edged sword of one for me.

I'm enjoying not looking forward to the end of the season. Last few (even with playoff potential) it's been difficult to get through weekends knowing we're likely to get beaten or at least put in a shit performance.

Now, aside from wanting to get promotion confirmed, the end of the season is going to be (hopefully) a mixture of elation and sadness at the barren months that will follow.

Being able to enjoy the bouncy light displays amongst an unobtrusive quiet towards end of games...

:tumbleweed:

More seriously, a manager who's post and pre match comments aren't drenched in pseudophilsophical bollocks, repetitive clichéd crap or scape goating. And also being able to fully respect our players. Been a while since I've felt that.

As a ST holder, it got to the point last season where I either genuinely dreaded going to games and seriously considered not going even when I had nothing better to do. I have a routine for night matches that involves going straight to the pub and having tea before the game and I joked that I'd really enjoyed my evening and then went to the game and ruined it.

Completely different this season, really look forward to going. Gutted about the games I've had to miss. Find myself constantly checking the tables, other results and listening to all the interviews.

I'm expecting a difficult time next season but I'm certain it won't be as a result of a lack of effort or desire while Wilder is manager.

Knowing the team are going to put a shift in every game. Knowing the manager isn't going to sugar coat his interviews with platitudes about fucking geese. Knowing that we will go and try to win every match instead of making sure we keep hold of the precious fucking point we started with against the likes of Port Vale. Knowing that we are, 9 times out of 10, going to score at least once every match. Knowing that opposition teams are somewhere between respectful and shitting it every time they play us, as opposed to the fucking belly tickling opportunity we offered so many of them last year. Knowing that, regardless of what they say, our neighbours are quietly shitting it at the very real prospect of playing us next season with Tony Ferrino at the helm up against a snarling dyed in the wool Blade. That's what's good about being a Blade at the moment.

Knowing that lot from the dark side won't be saying "mind the gap", as we join them playing in la liga or whatever league they think they're in. This season something has finally clicked down at BDTBL and they say football goes in cycles, this just might finally be our turn ❤⚔⚽

Winning. A lot.

Going a goal down and not been that worried.

Actually performing like a big club in a lower division; having a proper squad of decent players with a winning mentality. And playing the type of football you'd expect from the biggest club in the division, not timid 'keep it tight' shit or treating the ball like it's a hand grenade with the pin pulled out.

Love how Wilder's united the fanbase & restored the supporter/club connection - not just through Bladeybladeyness (though don't underestimate the importance of that), nor just sheer competence (don't underestimate that too) - but by showing that you can play proper, attractive passing football alongside all those traditional things like fighting spirit, pride in the shirt, aggression & being positive.

Proper modern English football. And it's us that's playing it, successfully. Very proud of this side & of being a part of it all as a supporter at the moment.

Watching players play with with positivity, knowing they are better than the ones they're playing against and finally no longer crippled by a fear of failure
