So another £1.7m with add ons incoming shortly.

Pretty much the same as the Murphy fee.

Will it get spent? Answers on a postcard.

I'm not being a smart arse but after we pay his sell on fee I reckon £750,000 will be available to Wilder, and at a guess I'd say we will spend 500k of it.
I'm not too fussed about the money. If we spend it right that would be plenty. Plus, it can go on a real winger which Che was never going to be.

Hmmm....don't be surprised if we have already spent most if not all of that money already.

So we might see a couple of loans come in now.

It will be re-invested by McCabe and the Prince

As I understand it, by McCabes theorem ...............

£1.7million comming in = £3.4million invested by him and the Prince ....... mumble mumble

That's Jimonomics. £1.7m in. They haven't taken it out, therefore it doubles as an investment.

Don't forget the probable Maguire money...

We should have enough to cover fees and wages for 3 or 4 new signings with plenty to spare.

Just got to hope we re-invest as we should for once. But I've got more hope than usual that we will.

Have you Ricky? I'm far less convinced but this is shit or bust time for us all. We have some money so what will we do and how quickly? If we spend wisely then we have obviously learned some lessons, if we spend less than half of it and squirrel the rest into Kevs rainy day fund then we will not get promoted. We all know we need 4 players minimum to get out this division, buying them in January is too late.

In theory this sale along with the Maguire money could generate enough money to transform our team. In reality we will probably bring in a few loans and extend the kop

Hey, its important we have the best looking ground in the third division you know!!

Synic according to Wikipedia is a Blades fan of a certain age ( doesn't say what age) never trusted wiki before now but I am starting to reconsider my opinion.

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to a (non-United) football fan. He said 'The Blades haven't signed anybody, have they?' I replied that we've signed seven players and paid off the likes of Hammond.

It would seem that the same myopia affects some on here. Seven new players - even if they were all freebies (which they aren't) would have more than swallowed whatever we get for Che. Unless people would have been happier if we'd have waited until new money came in for players before we started signing? In which case, the starting XI at Bolton would have looked pretty much the same as the shower that ended last season.

Fair play to United and CW. We've boldly speculated for once. And don't forget, the Che money isn't in the bank yet. Some people were urging United to spend the £3m+ that Newcastle were meant to be paying for Che. Thank God we didn't.

I agree that we have to act. Think most of us agree this current side/squad sadly will not go up as it stands. Wilder may coax some improvement and the players we have brought in may be better than outgoing but we are still a way off I feel.

We have been here 5 years now and whilst we have spent badly and managers have made a right mess of things; but now we have entrusted CW and have to back him with funds available.

If we have say a couple of million now, we have no excuse not to go out and sign 3 or 4 quality players in key positions, central midfield, keeper, left wing and prob centre back. Rotherham just signed Jon Taylor for £500,000 who was arguably Peterborough;'s best player so clubs at Lg 1/2 will sell if you put up the money. I am not sure who we would sign for the positions; that is why we brought in this Mitchell fella but we have around 3 weeks to get at least 3 in for me. We have tried this waiting till January/wait till the next window and it has not worked.

There wouldn't have been the sort of urgency to sell there clearly was if it wasn't going to positively affect Wilder's budget.

If we were just trying to get as much as possible with no view to re-investment then we would've surely let it run until the end of August given the level of interest in him and the typical inflation at the end of transfer windows.

Simply cannot not reinvest that cash. We haven't 'already spent it' - the money we've spent we've probably earned from releasing the shit we had before. + Murphy and Maguire fees in recent times which we never properly reinvested,

I agree to an extent but we moved on 15 pros at end of season (does not include Collins, Higdon, Alcock etc who went before) and another 4 or 5 may go too (granted not gone yet). We shifted on a lot of high earners. I know we have signing on fees but the wages for the incoming will be a lot less than the outgoing, Wilder has almost said as much about not paying silly wages, contracts.

The squad now is probably around 10 less than it was last season in terms of first team pros.

I am not sure signing the likes of Wilson, Hussey, Wright will have been big outlays in signing on fees/wages. They were at Oldha, Oxford and Bury previously. I think Clarke, Duffy, O'Connell and Fleck may be on bigger money though granted than the others brought in.

Money has gone out on these 7 players but the actual wage bill will surely be signifcantly less now?

That assumes we know what we are doing. All the evidence suggests we don't have a clue.

Anyway, you got your wish. Adams is gone. Let's see what rat hole we throw the money down.

One thing we have to address is pace. This is the slowest SUFC side ever assembled. We do not have one player with any pace whatsover in the side. Not one. Sadly there is not even a Campbell Ryce type off the bench. DCL may be quite quick but is injured. If we had a foot race over say 30 yards with our eleven versus every other eleven in the league and added up the times I am quite confident we would come last. Does not mean we wont be better than most teams but we have to address this surely?

McCabe's hanging on til January. Ched gets cleared in October retrial, we make Chezzy an offer they can't refuse.:)
