The “how did we do against them last season” chart and possible outcome

Well, it cheered me up a bit. Here was I thinking 1 point from the last 3 games was a disaster. Turns out it's 1 more than last year.

I've decided I prefer Trafford Blade's method of counting to the boring traditional league table, and I'm now enjoying this great run we're on.

I find it remarkable that after the previous 6 games, if we now match the results from last season, we finish on 88 points.

If we match the next 6 (W4, D1, L1) we will be in a fabulous position.

Back to back away wins and back to back “greens”, you can’t ask for more than that. Even more impressive is the fact that, after just 18 games, we’re already 15 points better off than in the equivalent games last year, albeit with victories to match in each of our next 3 games.

It feels wrong that such a convincing win should only receive an amber (same result as last season) but who would have thought that we would blow the league leaders away again, like we did against Fulham last year. Still 15 points better off than from the same or equivalent games last season.

I’m a bit late posting this after a hairy return over the Snake last night but a great re-start (for once!) puts us 15 points ahead of the equivalent games last year, meaning that we are on track for 90 points IF we match last year’s results in the 2nd half of the season.

I do like 15 cum points. My German girlfriend used to always give me nine.

In other words, despite still managing to make the play offs last term, we’ve bettered last seasons results on 10 occasions, matched our results on 10 occasions and received worse results on just 2 occasions.

That’s an impressive set of numbers when you consider we’ve done that on the back of carrying 10 injured senior players on most match days so far.

We’re in the eye of a storm. We’re in that mid-point where Hecky isn’t getting criticised anymore, just before the point where every time a manager is sacked, there’s a post wondering if the sacking club will come in for Hecky.

Not a bad way to reach the halfway point of the season - 5 wins out of the last 6 games and still 15 points ahead of the corresponding games last season. That should hopefully increase with only 2 points to match against beatable opposition in the next two games but we’ve all been around long enough to know that it may not turn out like that.

It feels like a win but is actually a red - but I’ll take that in the circumstances

A 4-0 stroll would have been nice but I’ll settle for another green. The 100 point finish is starting to look achievable…..
