and yet our midfield all but fell apart when Lundstram went offDid you actually watch the game ? Evans had 10 times more the touches that Lundstram had ,because he actualy gets in position and looks for the ball. I thought Lundstram was awful on and off the ball.
Can people not excuse a player of being occassionally robbed of the ball by Champions League/International/35m players?Thought he looked ordinary, besides the tackle,he was caught with the ball a few times and robbed of it,its a big weakness in his game.
I would if it was a one off,but it was happening last season too,its a part of his game that needs to improve. Can people not excuse a player of being occassionally robbed of the ball by Champions League/International/35m players?
Jury out on Egan for me. Very early days yet but as an unabashed Stearman fan I'm yet to see the upgrade factors.Agreed, though Egan looked a step up from Stearman in the middle of the 3, like the look of that back line.
Lundstram divides opinion.I though it was an excellent tackle and I'm not his biggest fan. What doesn't work for me is playing Evans and Lundstram together in a 3-5-1-1. Fleck was exceptional last night and did the work of 2 men in midfield. You worry there may be an enquiry from Inter after that performance.
For 30 minutes we gave them a game last night. They changed shape went up a gear and it was Fleck v the rest in midfield thereafter. We were playing quality opposition last night and saw a level of football at times that we won't see again this season. For me what was good about last night was that all the subs that came on seemed up for it. I thought we started to trouble them again when we had 2 No.10's on the field in Holmes and Duffy and Sharp nearly nicked it. Egan brought solidity to the back three and young Henderson pulled off the save of the match from the move of the match.
Thought Lundstrom played ok last night. A fair challenge between a big unit and a smaller one, which I would not expect him to have gone in softly. Evans was not , in my opinion as good. Fleck, however, was magnificent.
What made me laugh was the medics. Their two minced on with a white handbag. Four old fellows then struggled on with a huge stretcher. Then as the lad was being carried off slowly by the four, two even older and less fit medics carried off the second unused stretcher. All the six of them must have been well hot as they were wearing so much hi vis. They probably got to the treatment room and all collapsed and had to be put on oxygen. I could not help but crack up at the comedy of the two medics in grey leisure suits, with boufont hair and white loafers and matching handbag. we were, and I don't know how, sat in amongst all the inter fans on the BLUT.
A loud Italian voice from behind " this is not a joke, not funny , haha."
If Lundstram and Evans together doesn’t work (and I’m inclined to agree with that view) then for me it’s Evans that should drop out.
Lundstram does give the ball away sometimes, and is not the complete midfield player - (for that see John Fleck) but I think offers much more than Evans who can be neat and tidy but doesn’t try enough to progress us into attacking positions, Lundstram does at least look at how to develop an attack - and plays the most ‘Coutts-esque’ style (although not as effectively)
I disagree, but you knew I would!![]()
Agreed ! Evans wasn’t that much better either. I asked my old man when did he come on at about 60 mins.Did you actually watch the game ? Evans had 10 times more the touches that Lundstram had ,because he actualy gets in position and looks for the ball. I thought Lundstram was awful on and off the ball.
Which didn't really happen did it.and yet our midfield all but fell apart when Lundstram went off
Quite like this one tooFor me Lundstum is hugely underrated by many. He’s still relatively young, has strength, determination and I makes our midfield stronger. Last season he had the impossible task of replacing Coutts. This season he will grow into a powerful midfielder and if Coutts takes time to come back on song, he’ll be a big asset to our team.
