Spare a thought...
As time ticks on and we draw ever closer to one of the key events in our football calendar - the Steel City Derby, I think we should all spare a thought for the man who has by far the most difficult, demanding and, frankly, downright gruesome task of the next few days. Not for him the luxury of 10 other players on the pitch to share the burden, nor a packed dugout to turn to for discussions about tactics, substitutions and the like, nor even the satisfying and comforting presence of thousands of fellow Blades with which to tackle the shitheap that is the Rust Bucket together.
Nope, this man must go it alone. Emerging, like a valiant warrior off to tackle the Viking hordes, from the snug sanctuary of his under-bridge dwelling, he must head, fearless and determined, to the horror that is.....pork talk!
Yes, Roygbiv ,this is your time! You, alone, must tackle that cultural and hygiene-free wasteland, carefully picking your way through the trotters, snouts and little curly tails, in the hope of finding some gems to brighten our day and strengthen our resolve, ahead of Sunday's showdown. I bow down to your bravery, tenacity and sheer steel-ball-ness, in undertaking this horrifying and grisly mission.
I now call upon my fellow S24SU members, to leave their messages of solidarity on this thread, for the most courageous man in the kingdom; in the the hope that, with our support, he will make it back here unscathed, unharmed, and not reeking of pig swill.
God speed, Roygbiv ! May the all-conquering power of Bladey Bladeness, the indomitable spirit of the David Brooks nutmeg, and the wonder of the Mark Duffy bounce slaying, guide and protect you as you go on your way.
Up the Blades!
