16 fucking points. That was unimaginable, even if fully expecting relegation. Below the bare minimum standard. It's taken an extremely impressive run of losses to end the season to not move from that total. We've well and truly embarrassed ourselves, deserve all the piss taking that'll come our way, and if I was a neutral I'd not want to see us in the PL for a long time. We've insulted the competition. Fuck the points tally - for me we're the worst PL side of all time

I'll be very pleased to have a long break from football full stop, Euros aside. It's difficult to maintain interest beyond Unired as well. It feels very stale in this country in particular. I've never been more indifferent to it all

Is shoutbox out of bounds for you?

Shoutbox is possibly 100 (50 of them waiting for a knob joke and 10 more waiting for a tap in..lol) people, hardly a groundswell of fans or shoes off in the car park stuff is it..

Yes it might seem ironic I've said we are the best fans and I haven't travelled down, but I have my reasons.

All I'm saying is this..

Many of us knew that we'd be relegated.

Those of us that hoped we'd make a good account of ourselves had thier hopes dashed by the penniless prince, and then the season we've had manifested into the shit show we've seen.

However I will always stand by the blades fans, especially this time, because we all knew we were getting fucked, we all knew the football people at the club were getting fucked along with us as well, but unlike the players the fans never gave up..

I just went for a carvery today and a beer in the sunshine instead of putting myself through it..it's been enough this season.....hasn't it ?

Edit : I'd had enough by last week..FYI

Despite what the points total says, there is absolutely no way that the Derby team was worse than this set of spineless cunts. Definitely the worst premier league team of all time.

That Derby team would beat our current United team.

A true embarrassment of a season. The Premier League ought to ban us entry if we go up again unless we prove to them that we intend to take it serious and actually try to stay up. We threw in the towel in pre-season.

We need to see some progress. Stoke have already cast the first net and we need to strike early to give our fans some hope that we might actually learn from previous mistakes for once.

I personally have no faith in this club to get it right, nor in Wilder, who I think is a stubborn, out of date dinosaur committed to his favourite players, his mates and his tried and tested and ultimately failed system.

Prove me wrong Wilder and Sheffield United prove me wrong.

Enjoy your summers without Premier League football Blades.
I’m generally pretty optimistic and I’m grateful for most of the last few years. But have to admit I’m feeling more and more like you Tony.

Willing to give the club and wilder this summer (maybe until January) to see if we can at least start to fix the sinking ship. But the ‘to-do’ list is looking ominously big right now.

Let’s hope we never make such a mess of it again, disaster of a season but we made a noose for our own neck with our transfer dealings. It never needed to be so bad.

Time to kick start the summer transfer business early for once. Let’s get the bulk of it done before pre-season starts and give CW some hope of doing something next year. 🤞
Burnley, who were already much better than us, spent £100M more than us, didn't fuck up their preparation - and had a (ever so slightly less) miserable season too.

Our pre season was clearly a shit show, but I'm not convinced the end of season conclusion was ever going to be much different. The real problem is just lack of spending power.

Burnley spending £100m more than us surely confirms that the problems can’t be just purely be lack of spending power.

More likely that £100M is a drop in the ocean to plug the gap between the respective divisions.

And Luton? They at least gave it a go under a constrained budget.

This season is anomalous in that all three teams were relegated. Of course spending power is significantly material, but all parts of the club operating efficiently and effectively plays its part.

We spent money, but late and on crap. Our medical department can’t keep players fit. Our squad management has been catastrophic. It goes on.

It’s really tough and requires lots of money but that doesn’t abrogate the club from responsibility to perform to its best in other areas. We’ve had 3/5 seasons in the Prem, we should have known what it takes.

Three promoted sides have been relegated with a shit points total. Some spent money, some had a good pre season, some had lots of momentum, some fucked it all up.

Outcome: the same.

Of course - we must do better with future pre season preparations.

well it worked for forest in their first season in the prem but they only just stopped up we were never in with any kind of chance once nidaye and berge refused to sign new contracts followed by a net spend of 23m but were not the first team to go down this route norwich are the experts at it

That’s your view. My view is we didn’t maximise the opportunity we had and we could have given it a better go even under the financial constraints we had. That’s a tremendous disappointment for me and I think many others. You set yourself up to compete the best you can.

The issue being that we’re dropping into a division where the issues outwith budget arguably count for more, yet they are areas that we seem to struggle with operationally.

And it's also a fact. But I don't think our views actually differ. My only point was we shouldn't fool ourselves that if we get all that stuff right, the outcome will likely be much different next time. 90% of that destiny will be dictated by spending power.

But we need to get those other things right just to compete in the championship.

Been a nightmare hasn’t it but is what it is we’ll be oreyt

They talk about the positive momentum of our rise under Wilder so could we now have negative momentum.

Will we suffer a hangover, with the management, players and fanbase suffering a type of PTSD syndrome after suffering our worse season in our history.

Think it’s essential we start well next season. If we play well creating loads of chances whilst the other team have 1 attack and score a lucky goal to win or draw.

Then you can imagine many of our irrational fans will ignore how we’ve dominated a game creating chances for fun instead they’ll revel in predicting doom and gloom convinced we’re destined for league 2. This will ramp up the pressure on Wilder and the players to perform, they’ll start feeling sorry for themselves convinced that whatever they do they can’t win. So we need to be mentally strong.

Burnley away, I'm fairly sure.

Didn't go to Burnley, went once in the 90s for a night match, stuck on that daft road and never got a pint.. never going back..

But I think you might be right.

Wow. You are saying the words in my head exactly.
