Really hope he's playing his usual mind games. We may not get anyone in to-day but we have until the 16th to get someone from the championship. Both goals came from our failings down the left hand side yesterday. If we go with what we've currently got I fear for us.

I think it’s the £8M price tag that’s putting us off.
Seems like that's the issue.

JOC of 2019 is a huge miss, but 2020? JRob is his equal and adds the long throw. We still need a 2019 JOC replacement, but Kongolo's injury record rules him out, Smalling on loan is the best of a poor choice for me.
Robinson is his equal?. Robinson is a championship defender at best. He is slow and his positioning is poor. If he is one of our 3 centre half for the rest of the season we will struggle. We need upgrades on him, Osbourne, McGoldrick and Lunny all of whom should not be starting games on a regular basis if at all

I suspect the point was that JOC, through being half-crocked, wasn’t at his usual standard since Project Restart.

I thought he’d failed his medical on account of his foot, failed one at Fulham too by all accounts.
You hear of injured players passing medicals all the time, for me I think it’s the sum of money which we’ve got but unwilling to pay for him which is the stumbling block. I could be wrong! 🤷‍♂️

If it’s a loan to buy and he comes in and plays solid then 8 million is sod all compared to what we would lose

You know that, I know that, everyone knows that, the problem is it’s £8M on a position that we didn’t think we’d need to spend a week ago, it’s not a small gamble especially after the Brewdog signing.

Can't remember where I heard it from maybe United medical staff on an Alan Nixon show I think but it was stated, 'every player fails the medical', they went on to say whether it was something you could handle made it a signing or not. I remember thinking these must be the toughest physical tests in a person's life but it may just be they push them until their heart rate exceeds the maximum level.

If we need someone to come in and replace JOC, but that person isn’t fit themselves and could be out for a while longer (which is what it sounds like with his cyborg foot), bringing him in would be utter lunacy

We can’t afford to be bringing players who are injured to replace a player who is injured.

If there’s no viable replacement out there to come in and improve us from Robinson we either look within the squad at alternatives or change formation.

Been saying it forever, in our system you just don’t find centre halves able to do what Bash and JOC have done. It will take a lot of coaching to get someone who has been a “normal” CB to get to do it well enough.

IMHO...we are going to have to ditch it and look at an alternative system until we can get the right players back fit or replaced. We need to add quality to midfield in possession and creativity up front. This season may well be the biggest test of Wilders career in management, and if he pulls it off and we stay up will be a bigger achievement than last season. It was obvious post lockdown when JOC was injured we were in big trouble.

but we don’t pay the 8 million till next season, right now this season it would be paying wages we would have to pay for a loan to cover a long term injury

If the guy is long term injured then I agree, the fact he has had 2 Medicals recently suggests he is closer than we think

Yeah sorry, for some reason I missed the loan to buy bit, I didn’t think that was an option for us?

EFL window doesn’t close for ten days. If he’s not that far away then he should be able to pass a medical before it closes.

It’s a gamble - he looked like a perfect fit for our system (and maybe in available on loan) but if he’s still got metalwork in his foot, it’s unlikely he’s going to be fit to play anytime soon. Suppose you just have to trust the medical staff.

hope we can get someone in though.
