Ten years ago today we lost 2-1 at Port Vale, which was our last Boxing Day away game. The day is remembered not so much for the game itself, but the snowy journey home which left hundreds of fans trapped. Maybe that nightmare journey is why those compiling the fixtures have shown pity on us since!

That team was the most embarrassing in the last 40 years, yeah we've had some hidings in the prem but to languish in the lower half of the third division with the highest wage bill was a total embarrassment

My son had just passed his driving test and drove me to that match. The return journey was something I’ve never really recovered from 🙈🥴

can you post this on porktalk please their in meltdown that were at home again on boxing day 🤣🤣🤣🐷🐷🐷

I remember crawling back up the M6 then having to negotiate the M62 on the way back to Harrogate. Don't think I've ever driven that far in snow

It was a shite day. Made worse by the shite performance and the fact that when me and my mate were stuck stranded at Catcliffe, the team coach drove past, just to remind us that it’d been worthwhile.

Actually that season wasn't that bad. We made the play offs, got to the semis of the League Cup, losing narrowly to Spurs and beat Premier league QPR 3-0 on their own patch in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

The following season (the season of Hammond and Sammon), however...

We've had 2 since but they both got postponed. Wigan cos of the rain, what a session in Glossop that ended up being, and preston cos of positive covid tests.

I'd rank the L1 seasons as follows
1. 2016-17 - obviously, promotion 100 points
2. 2013-14 - awful start, but massive revival under Clough, THAT FA Cup semi and the return of optimism
3. 2014-15 - as above
4 2012-13 - long unbeaten run from the start of the season , top at Xmas, but then Peters put to a play off defeat by Yeovil
5. 2011-12. 90 points, loads of goals, but Ched goes down, Wednesday beat us to autos, then that play off final
6. 2015-16 - Adkins season - as above

Years ago they had to walk to Christmas day games as no public transport. And no cars.
Not sure if dinner was before or after.
Probably both ;)
Seen on teletext that football was played in USA Christmas day - although only seen headlines not read.
With all these parasite USA owners will there be a boxing day home game if all the owners demand a Christmas day game in the states;)
Merry Christmas
No kin pictures yet for me. JUST COME 6 mins in!

I’d rank the 2011-12 season as the 2nd best. Obviously a very shit end to it, but until Ched went down it was great fun watching the blades.
