Ten point gap

Agreed, Brighton’s form is decent and I don’t see us catching them unfortunately. Also, as poor as Newcastle have been of late they have a couple of match winners in their squad and they are capable of pulling a result out of nowhere, like at Everton the other day. Again, I think the gap between us and them is insurmountable.

Without wanting to sound defeatist, I don’t think we can do. Simply cannot get away taking 2 points from the first half of the season and expect to survive. However, as others have said, at least it is enjoyable to watch us play again and if we can finish positively it can only help us next season. If the miracle happens, great, I’d certainly love to be proved wrong.
Brightons next 6:
Liverpool A
Burnley A
Villa H
Palace H
West Brom A
Leicester H

Their last 3 are West Ham, Man City, Arsenal.

Newcastle's next 6:
Southampton H
Chelsea A
Man U A
Wolves H
West Brom A
Villa H

Their last 3 are Man City. Us, Fulham

Think the situation at the end of that sequence will definitely tell us.

Every single one is beatable if we have it in us. Even Liverpool have been flakey.

Villa probably the toughest out the lot at the moment.

Yes I'm dosed up on deludamol this morning.
Or mebbe it's pozudamol😊

What gives me hope, maybe false hope, is that we are were we are, due to an unprecedented loss of form, plus we’ve had some hugely significant injuries to deal with.
The teams around us, our rivals in the mini relegation league, are where they are, because that’s their level, they have roughly the points total expected at this stage.
Our level just last season was ninth place. If we could rediscover that kind of form, belief and momentum, then pulling clear of the relegation scrap over the full second half of the season, does not seem to me to be purely the stuff of dreams?

Granted it’s a big if, but replicate our current form over the next six weeks and we’d be at least third from bottom with fourth well and truly in our sights 😉

Seem to remember we had a 10 point gap between us and Wetsham with not a lot of games to play when we got relegated from the PL last time. We are now 10 points behind Brighton. Can we overtake them and escape?
If we beat Wetsham week on Saturday it's on.

Would need a huge goal swing but it's mathematically possible
Bloody hell just had a look... WBA would need to lose, we would need to beat Chelsea by 3 goals and fulham would need to lose 0-5 to West ham...

Or Fulham lose 0-6 and we would need to win by two goals... and so on...

Doable 😬

edit: Just did worked out the odds on an accumulator.... 16,000/1
