I don't want to see Grbic in our goal for as long as there's a hole in my arse.

I think we give the subs at Preston a run plus a few of those who started to plug the gaps.

This is billed as a competitive fixture but is an opportunity for some of these guys to have 90 minutes together working on a few bits.

Campbell has only just signed so if he's involved I reckon it will be from the bench. Hopefully McCallum is fit and will be involved.

------------------Grbic
Seriki-Souttar-Trusty-McCallum
------------Arblaster-Peck
--------Brooks-Marsh-Slimane
----------------Brewster

Subs: Davies, Gilchrist, Anel, Burrows, Coulibaly, Hamer, Onè
Average age 22

I'll counter that and say what if some of the squad players are needed in a league game due to injuries/suspension but don't have any match fitness because we play the same players twice a week?
By the time we need them due to suspension, the squad players having had some minutes in a deliberatey shit team that gets us knocked out in round one won't do them much good at all.

Players I want to see start

Davis
Souttar
Trusty
Seriki
Slimane
Peck
Coulibaly
Marsh
Brookes

Players I like to see get a run out for a bit

Brewster
Burrows
Gilchrist
Campbell

Some changes depending on who needs the minutes, would definitely rest Hamer, Moore and O'Hare, and presumably Gilchrist will need resting given he isn't match fit. Got to start Davies.
Hamer needs the minutes

Not looking for an online row but every year we get fans posting this. Aw not bothered blah blah.

Is it any wonder then we are the only team in the top four tiers not to win a knockout tournement in a 100 odd years be that play offs, fa cup or league cup. Couldn't even win the fucking Watney Cup as dear old Ted fucked up his penalty against Bristol Rovers.
i remember that ted was one of my favourite players to . i can see his face now after is miss

Can not imagine the crap we would get if they won ,it was bad enough when we licked them

Go on then, what's your team vs Wrexham?

Will post mine later but would expect the following to be involved;

Trusty
Souttar
Slimane
Brewster
Campbell
These types that haven't played yet, plus the relevant kid for each spare position. Peck, Marsh etc.

Sub off the first teamers if we're losing, to really show we don't give a fuck.

All I will say is this - we’ve had no holes dames so far this season.

Winning breeds winning.

Please don’t put together some nonsense scratch XI so we can have those pillocks lauding it on our pitch to start the season.

Make maximum four changes and leave it at that. By all means make a few more of doing well.

Grbic to start. Have an absolute blinder. Gets picked up by some Hungarian team in the Champions League for 4mil. Would feel like a win, even if we would lose to this lot.

Really not arsed about this , put grbic in the net and we will lose .. move on to QPR

CW says we'll be making a number of changes from Saturday. Some players not yet up to speed fitness wise to play 2 games in a week. Campbell needs a couple of weeks intense training to be match fit as had no pre season.

CW extolled the virtues of our Academy and singled out all the youngsters who were in the squad on Saturday. Michael Collins U21's coach last season has been promoted to the first team. Presumably this is to fill the gap left by Keith Andrews. Garry ,McSheffrey will take Collins place.

Parkinson said after their game on Saturday he would be making a number of changes also. Didn't know CW was with Parkinson at Southampton as a youngster. Steve Parkin their assistant is a Worksop Blade and well known to CW.

Davies
Seriki Souttar Robinson Trusty
Peck Arblaster Brooks
Brewster Moore Slimane

Most changes I’m comfortable with is something like this:

Davies
Souttar Anel Trusty
Seriki Hamer Coulibaly Brooks
Slimane O’Hare
Brewster

I’ve written off Grbic and Davies is going to lose his spot soon but is the keeper who is staying.

A back three allows Souttar and Trusty to get game without just throwing together without any prior games together with Anel as the glue like he was against Spurs.

Brooks likely to unfortunately lose his spot so give him another game out wide.

Try Coulibaly as a Souza alternative but with experience of Hamer’s drive in the middle rather than an untried youth.

Slimane getting game time after Friday and O’Hare having a chance to get up to speed more.

Brewster needs games.

It’s 6 new starters but 8 played some part on the last game.

Peck an early sub if going well and Marsh also getting minutes.

Just don’t chiluck it away with a daft team. Don’t want to start the new season with a home defeat to lower league opponents desire the priority this season. We played Friday and don’t play until Saturday so should be easy to accommodate.

Grbic
Gilchrist Souttar Trusty McCallum
Arblaster Souza
Brooks Hamer Slimane
Brewster
Some rotation but a team still strong enough to win. These lot will be bang up for this so we shouldn’t be taking it lightly.

Is there a rule about how many changes you can make from the previous game?! I thought it was brought in to try and keep some kind of prestige to the competition. But it might have just been the EFL cup whatever it’s called.

The cautious part of me says, don't risk any injuries to key players and try something like this:
--------------------------Davies--------------------------
Siriki-----------Soutar--------Trusty------McCallum(if fit)
-------------Peck----Coulibaly----Slimane------------
----------Brooks--------------------------Marsh--------
-------------------------Brewster-------------------------

But I think that midfield would get steamrolled by a well drilled Wrexham who will be well fucking up for this, so I wouldn't be surprised if Wilder went reasonably strong. In that case I could see Souza and even Robbo starting just to ensure a zero fucks given approach to dealing with their players.

Get a big win under the lights, and keep the momentum from Friday.
