Team vs Wrexham

The cautious part of me says, don't risk any injuries to key players and try something like this:
--------------------------Davies--------------------------
Siriki-----------Soutar--------Trusty------McCallum(if fit)
-------------Peck----Coulibaly----Slimane------------
----------Brooks--------------------------Marsh--------
-------------------------Brewster-------------------------

But I think that midfield would get steamrolled by a well drilled Wrexham who will be well fucking up for this, so I wouldn't be surprised if Wilder went reasonably strong. In that case I could see Souza and even Robbo starting just to ensure a zero fucks given approach to dealing with their players.

Get a big win under the lights, and keep the momentum from Friday.
I like your selections and Eddie Colquhoun. I have zero interest in the competition. Most managers with an eye on a bigger prize, play the kids so it’s no big deal if we go out to Wrexham. They can crow all they want. It’s them that thinks we care a fuck about them. We don’t.

Equally I have zero interest in the likes of Arblaster O’Hare Souza Burrows Hamer getting crocked by over excited and aggressive Welsh cloggers or getting sent off by that mad martinet Stroud.

Agreed I wouldn't risk the first team on this game,if we lose it's tomorrow's chip paper

Is there a rule about how many changes you can make from the previous game?! I thought it was brought in to try and keep some kind of prestige to the competition. But it might have just been the EFL cup whatever it’s called.

This might help.

I didn't realise Stroud was the ref. Sigh.

I still haven't forgiven that useless cunt for the 2-2 against Brentford all those years ago. It remains one of the worse refereeing performances I have ever seen.

The problem with either cups is the bigger Premier League sides can afford to have a severely weakened side unless they are playing each other and saunter into the Quarters without little problem. Then they take it seriously, you probably have to go back to 2017 since Southampton were in the final of the League cup for the last time a smaller team made it. Leicester in 2021 for the FA Cup. Unless the top 10 meet each other there is a big chance that it will be the same teams, time and time again. That’s where the “magic of the cup” has gone. For teams like us with ambitions of being a top 6 side in the Championship and trying to get investment to at least have a go at staying up, we need to have more depth if we are going to have a go on 2/3 fronts. For me there is nothing worse than getting knocked out by a 2nd string PL side in front of 8,000.
Although the game against Wrexham providing no injuries does come at a good time to get some minutes, it’s almost like an another pre-season game.

After last season, this is more meh than you can imagine, a no win game for us.

Think both teams will play to lose, we both have other agenda's and as has been said earlier, the top teams sandbag it till the quarters and then knock you out..

Complete waste of time..

The EFL Cup rules are quite vague (surprise surprise)

There is no specific number.

Rule 6.5 of the 24/25 EFL Cup rulebook states; "Each club shall play it's full available strength in and during all competition matches, unless some satisfactory reason is given"

It seems quite lenient as long as playing players that been in and around matchday squad.

Agreed. This cup in particular is so unattractive.

I’d scrap the league cup in its current form. Just have it as Football League sides plus those who have not qualified for Europe in the PL. It would need a rework in terms of rounds, due to the numbers, but it would make it more competitive.

Plus it’d stop the European sides from moaning about the amount of games.

By the time we need them due to suspension, the squad players having had some minutes in a deliberatey shit team that gets us knocked out in round one won't do them much good at all.
There's players who started at PNE that haven't had much of a pre season. They can't be expected to play 3 games in a week right now.

I'm more interested in 3 points against QPR Saturday.

Our squad and youth players are good enough to beat Wrexham.

not my pick at all but thinking we will see something like

Davies
Seriki Souttar Robinson Trusty
Peck Arblaster Coulibaly
Brooks Slimane
Brewster
