League the priority, use it as a pre season game for fitness. Lots of subs in the game and helpful to make final decisions on whether some of those kids really are going to be good enough to be active players in the squad for this season.

Not arsed about winning it.

I'm not toooo far off you, but I would like Hamer to be given the chance to play in a more preferred deeper role.

McCallum (if recovered) or Burrows as fullback for me on the left as still need someone who's comfortable going forward

I initially went same but think he will keep Robbo in rather than play a full new back line of strangers.
Hence trusty left as he’s not going to play first 11 unless injuries happen.
Reckon he will give McCallum another week as he’s going to play a lot as shown he’s an excellent player.

Think be a little early for Campbell. He’s not had a pre season of any sort. I understand he may have kept himself fit but with his injury record one would imagine he is slowly introduced.

I agree, not fussed about going far in this cup, however we now have developed a "thing" with Wrexham and couldn't bear all the gloating if they win. So for me, strong team with some of the youngsters whilst also protecting a few of the midfield. If hamer or ohare get injured I would be so annoyed.

Go on then, what's your team vs Wrexham?

Will post mine later but would expect the following to be involved;

Trusty
Souttar
Slimane
Brewster
Campbell
On one hand I’d like to see a few get game time but experience tells us that multiple changes usually lead to a sub-par performance and often sub-par result.

Quite keen for us to open Chapter One of their new series with “The lads get their asses handed to them. Again.”

Might be tempted to let the team that finished the last game start this one. That way there is at least some continuity.

I'm wondering if at this stage this game is more of an opportunity to give minutes together to lads in a new system, with new players rather than a chance to rest players. I'd be tempted to start the same 11.

I'd love it if we took this cup seriously this season, love it.

I doubt we will though as the league is obviously priority and the squad is still a little small to be spreading ourselves too thin, but I'd be up for a couple of non-play off related Wembley trips!

This looks good. If we really want to keep the first teamers fresh for the weekend and see what the rest of the squad are looking like we could even chuck Coulibaly in for Hamer and Marsh in for O'Hare and go 4-3-3. Not sure if that would be asking for trouble though!

Some changes depending on who needs the minutes, would definitely rest Hamer, Moore and O'Hare, and presumably Gilchrist will need resting given he isn't match fit. Got to start Davies.

Campbell has only just signed so if he's involved I reckon it will be from the bench. Hopefully McCallum is fit and will be involved.

Not looking for an online row but every year we get fans posting this. Aw not bothered blah blah.

Is it any wonder then we are the only team in the top four tiers not to win a knockout tournement in a 100 odd years be that play offs, fa cup or league cup. Couldn't even win the fucking Watney Cup as dear old Ted fucked up his penalty against Bristol Rovers.

I doubt they'll put Hamer in the middle. He was dead on his feet on Friday.

Campbell hasnt had a pre season so it will be interesting to see if he starts or comes off the bench. Grbic will start (unfortunately)

Squad players need minutes. Campbell and Hampson to come on as subs. We need to protect our first team starters from Parkinsons cloggers. Would like to see young Dovy given a run out as well. He's very capable in the air which is where the ball is going to be most of the time from Phils hoofwaffen dire football.

Be surprised if Campbell starts don’t think he’s trained all summer.

I'd like to play a largely first team with the odd fringe player, in my opinion we don't learn anything and neither do players if the team and the play is disjointed, in fact it could be detrimental to the players progression if we play badly with possibly the crowd getting on their backs, if we play well and play on the front foot it would give fringe and younger players confidence, we can always bring young uns off the bench if things are going well

Normally I would agree with you however this season we need to bed all these players in and can’t take risks with the league and our best players when we are lacking depth.
FA cup totally different look.
This one…not arsed. It’s about getting through and getting minutes in some players who’ve not kicked a ball in anger for the club

Yeah but is said every season. That's what pisses me off. At the moment id play the strongest team. Get a winning mentality, improve fitness (why last season did players fail to last 100-110 minutes? Most fagged out at about 75 minutes).

That perhaps says a lot about our preparedness for the start of the season over recent years rather than not wanting a league cup run.
Win the game yes, but not at the expense of our currently irreplaceable players against a team of players who will be dying to get one over us and chucking themselves into every tackle

Hoofwaffen. Good work — word of the day 😊

I'm not bothered about winning in the cup, but if we are going out then don't play Grbic. At least make Wrexham work for the win.

I'll counter that and say what if some of the squad players are needed in a league game due to injuries/suspension but don't have any match fitness because we play the same players twice a week?

I would not risk Arblaster , he’s as important to our league squad as Coutts was in 2017

I'd go for:

Grbic
Seriki - Gilchrist - Souttar - JLT - Trusty
Brooks - Peck - Slimane
Marsh - Brewster
