If we play this way, play aggressively and win the battles, there's a good chance we can rattle The Great Norwich and get a result

But RWB a problem. Not looking so smart to sign a Seriki cover who cant really play as a wing back is it?

Been exchanging texts with my Norwich supporting mate (we have been good mates since 1973). Unfortunately due to mobility issues he wont be coming to the match on Saturday. He lives in Gorleston and hasnt travelled past Norwich in the last 2 years. His son will be coming and will be having lunch with me and my son.

My mate says "We dominated possession against Stoke but struggled to create clear cut chances. I think it will be a close game on Saturday. I’m expecting Toure and Brooks to start. They shared the goals against Burnley. Mattson might be dropped as he played poorly last night. Slimane on the bench I think and Fisher back in place of Stacey"

My reply "We had Cooper to thank for the several saves he made in the last two games. I am expecting Cooper, Choudhury, McCallum, Kitching, Tanganga, Peck, Rothwell, Donovan, BBD, Cannon and Bamford. McCallum and BBD were injured last night, if both aren't fit for Saturday then I expect Norrington-Davies and maybe Campbell"

I think CWs main concern will be keeping it tight and staying in the game before trying to nick a winner. Assuming no injury problems and that some of our midfield can manage 2 half games in a week

Cooper
Doherty Tanganga Kitching Mcallum
Peck Phillips Jairo
Donovan Bamford BBD

First subs likely to be Choudhury on for either Phillips or Jairo and Shackleton for Doherty depending on how the game is going.

Do we really want Hamza playing RB after his last performance? I would go with a back 5. 3 solid centre midfielders and 2 strikers to pin there defence back!
a back 3 of tanganga mcguinness and kitching sounds good to me but think it will only be used for away fixtures

Wilder said Phillips is pencilled in to do 60 minutes in the cup for the first time didn't he? Slowly build him up seems wise.

I would start Phillips against Norwich and replace after 60 mins with Arblaster or Rothwell.......if we need to.
Same with Reiderweld.
There are 3 more league games before the cup so hopefully he is fully up to speed by then.

Anyone know when Burrows is going to be available again?
All I hear from Wilder is 'not available'. Which means nowt.
I am not expecting to see One or Seriki until after the international break.

I see a lot saying this but Wilder has said Phillips cannot start until after the first international break. Also this has Jairo as an '8' where he'd need to be box to box, which would snap his hamstrings.

I like the 4-3-3 idea too. Only way to get any control. But think it needs to be Jairo in the '6' and swap him for Phillips when he tires. Can't play them both at the same time. Then you pick two '8's' from Peck, Rothwell & Arblaster. Arblaster is struggling so i'd say:

Cooper
Hamza Tanganga Kitching McCallum

Jairo
Rothwell Peck

Donovan Bamford BBD

Swap Donovan over to the left again when BBD gets tired. God knows who comes on for BBD unless its shackleton again.

4-3-3 looks ideal but we don't have a single CM who is able to play a wide CM role

Rothwell would have been good for LCM, back in his running days

The rest of them are all very central CMs

Phillips Riedewald Peck would bring out the worst in at least two of them, see us have none of the ball, and probably expose us on the flanks too

I think we underestimate what a good atmosphere can do in games like this where the expectations aren’t high. Think we need to get vocal and loud and get on the refs back over any 50/50 decision. I love the Lane like that and think it can give us an edge.

Sing up Shoreham.

Having Phillips available for us will be key to what we are able to do this season

Even if it’s annoying that he’s not 100%.
I’d not take any risks and start him before he’s ready to contribute without risking injury. Build his minutes up slowly until he’s right.

Worst thing we could do is throw him in before he’s right for 90 minutes then lose him for 3 months.
