Team vs Liverpool

We played very well that day and gave them a game. We’re a different side though now, take away Deano, JOC and an in form Fleck that’s a big chunk of the side. We were solid at the back then, now every time a ball comes into the box we look like conceding.
I agree that JOC and Fleck are big misses, but I don’t see Ramsdale as being much different to Henderson(he let the ball go underneath him) and we have the third best goals against in the league.
The problem is at the other end.

Possibly the most athletic side we can play, lots of quick players and a few who can carry the ball well too. Liverpool won't like chasing after Burke and Berge as we break. Previously we've tried to use the pace of Mousset in behind in games like these, but it may be worth having that powerful running coming from a bit deeper.

I think that’s exactly what I’d go for, and stick with for the next few games at least, to try and give them all a chance to get used to the system and how each other plays.

Quite like the look of that. Ampadu offers better defensive cover in midfield than Norwood. Not sure Lowe will be available though so may need to go Robinson and Stevens. Gives us some pace up front when we have the ball as not sure we have anyone who can hold it effectively so need players to carry it instead..

Absolutely, this, and I would definitely be happy with that line up

I think Bogle will get a run out in this one, I'd play Ampadu next to Egan and go with a back 4, Robinson on the left.
Maybe Berge and Norwood flanked by Osborne and Bogle, Brewster and Didzy up top??
Bit of a change, but what have we got to lose?

------------Ramsdale-------------
Bogle----Basham-----Egan-----Ampadu-----Stevens (Lowe if possible)
---------Berge--------------Fleck
-----------------McGoldrick--------------
--------Brewster-----------Burke---------

We need that CAM back to press on oppositions defences with that extra option between the CM's to Strikers.
Also, we dont play the triangles anymore with the fullbacks when we attack and I feel we are missing that so maybe Boyle/Lowe can bring that back in.
Hopefully, we see an improvement against Liverpool and Man City.

UTB!!

I quite like that side although I suspect CW will go with Stevens at centre back

Since I don't have to think tactically due to not being a manager the odds are stacked so massively against us anyway, and we're hardly going there for the win. Just put out a heavily attacking side (well whatever we can) and just go for it. We don't exactly have anything to lose

Well apart from our currently very competitive goal difference, which given our lack of scoring takes on even more importance.
However I do take your point about attacking teams more, we simply have to find a way of being more offensive in games from here on in, it must be soul destroying even for the players running around trying to plug gaps at the back & not trying to stretch teams & create scoring opportunities.

I suspect we'll be ultra-defensive and try and break on them.

Ramsdale

Basham Egan Stevens

Baldock Berge Norwood Osborn Lowe

Burke McGoldrick

I think we'll get spanked.

What, even more ultra-defensive than the ultra-defensive approach we adopt in just about every game?

Without changing formation, that's about as defensive as you can get. 3 DMs, a number 10 and a winger!

If we don't turn up is it just a 3-0 forfeit and a fine?

Maybe worth considering.
If WE do that, we also receive an 80 point deduction for 3 seasons. Article 403. Part 17.3

It's nice (in a way) we are one of only 7 teams featuring in special FIFA, UEFA, FA, PL rules...

Am I the only one unwilling to throw Brewster straight in? Don't want to destroy the kids confidence from the off so would leave him to come off the bench certainly against the better teams. One of McG or Burke otherwise it's like playing with a one man strike force.
He’ll be busting to play against Liverpool and we need a goal scorer yesterday,it might take him 3 or 4 games to get up to speed So these next few games where expect very little points wise are ideal,no sense in benching our record signing until mid November.
From what I’ve seen so far the premier league is too bigger a step up for mcburnie.

My guess at Wilder's team-

......................Ramsdale
......Basham..Egan....Stevens
Bogle.......................................Osborn
.......Berge......Norwood.....Lundstram
................Burke...........McBurnie

Suspect he'll want to give Bogle a run now, he alluded to it in his post match interview.
We're going to need a running outlet against these big 3 teams so I think it's a good time to have a look at what he offers.

I don't think Wilder will have been impressed by Jack Robinson's moment of madness in that 2nd half. It was absolutely ludicrous what he did.
A bit of a reshuffle with Osborn going to LWB.

I think he'll go with the same midfield. Norwood's ping might be needed to start counter attacks, otherwise he might have gone for Ampadu.

Burke & McBurnie probably offer the best out ball we have so I think we could see them two paired at the top of the park.
I think McBurnie has had his chance and fluffed it time he had a rest.Might miss him in the defence but we have to start scoring goals and he had plenty of opportunities on Sunday and never looked like putting the chances away.

If he plays 2/3 of the best teams in the league and he doesn't get any change from their defences then it could batter his confidence, he's not played at this level yet so introduce the lad slowly, certainly no more than 30 minutes unless he comes on and looks the part in the first game but I can't see that happening. We are set to face 2 of the best club sides in the world followed by a decent Chelsea side and although some people are quoting the 23million he cost, that is a pittance in the world of transfer fees.

I have never been a fan of McBurnie but I think he's just on a bad run of form, it wouldn't surprise me to see him getting 10 goals this season, he needs benching for now but I'd still like to see him come on for some time.

Liverpool getting a few injury's now. Still therr second string is more than capable of stepping up. However I would rather play their second string than their first.

Fuck it. Just go for the jugular from the first whistle. Nothing to lose.

I agree with that lets go for it .Villa did and look what happened .Now I have not gone loopy I UNDERSTAND WE CAN'T SCORE 7 but we might score one or two unless of course VAR rules them out because Chris sneezed or what ever.Surely McBurnie has spent his chances for a start after Sundays misses.we might miss him in the defence but we want goals and he is not getting them and thats his job.

Not a game where I would realistically expect all 5 of our strikers to make the 18, like they did on Sunday.

Someone won’t be Appeh !!

Taking Mr Wilders oft said statement that he wants to "leave" by the front door I would be very surprised if he didn't start with 2 strikers. Just not sure which 2 but our leading scorer this season would be hard to leave out. (Didsy McGoalrich?) Besides they look a better attacking unit with him as a number 10.
