I think we can shift from just about must win to nailed on must win.

With that in mind I’d suggest Duffy comes in against his old club in lieu of Lundstram.

For one of the few occasions bizarrely let’s have Brooks and Duffy starting together.

If Stearman is injured, then Leonard to RCB and Basham in the middle. It’s got to be a forward thinking team.

I’d be going:

Blackman
Basham Stearman O’Connell
Baldock Evans Fleck Stevens
Duffy
Clarke Brooks

Subs: Moore, Leonard, Lafferty, Lundstram, Holmes, Sharp, Donaldson

* if Stearman out then Leonard to RCB, Bash in the middle, Jake Wright on the bench.

I' go with team with the only change being Brooks on the bench and Billy in from the start.

Hopefully go at them from the off, be winning in to the 2nd half, then bring off a tiring Billy for young Brooks who has more pace and is more effective on the break.

I think we need Billy from here on, both his goals and his leadership.

He isn’t getting any of the former and has none of the latter. Richard Stearman is the leader on the pitch and obvious choice for captain.

I detect Bladey Bladeness. Sharp’s past it.

You mean slow, off the pace, ineffective Billy? That’s nothing to do with tiredness.

Good observation that he isn’t getting any goals. I’ll raise you an observation that he’s been sitting on the bench.

I detect a broken record. Sharp has had another good season and is our captain.

I’d like to see Ricky Holmes on the pitch.

Depends if he's removed the topknot.

Bizarre signing that for me, maybe with Leonard and Holmes it was the thrill of the chase or can we add them to the other players we have who "just need a good pre-season"?

There’s a reason he’s on the bench. He’s immobile, lethargic and wholly anonymous when he’s not scoring. That’s not leadership by example. He’s been rubbish recently and well deserves his place on the bench. Sorry if that upsets Billy fans but I support our club rather than individual favourites. I’m pleased to see Tufty takes the same view.

It will not be good news if Sharp is heavily involved next season. We need better. It’s no disgrace to be significantly past your best but it’s deluded to pretend it ain’t so.

Duffy just has to start.

Stevens needs dropping . Brooks to the bench. Duffy in.
Blackman
Basham - Stearman- O'Connell
Baldock - Lafferty
Evans - Fleck
Duffy
Sharp - Clarke
Having seen Brum play I think Brooks will get kicked to pieces if he starts. This would be my starting 11. I’d leave Stevens out until next season and give Lafferty a chance as he looks done this year. Having watched their equaliser again, it was very bad defending.

Attack our goal on the right, that is the easiest way to score against us. Millwall yesterday, Barnsley's first goal, Preston away, Cardiff last week, etc.

Not sure why Lafferty is not getting a look in, he whips a cross in much faster than Enda, and has goals in his locker.

Like to see Lafferty play. Duffy has to play. Toss up between Brooks and Sharp. Neither in great form

Or signed as cover for Duffy as Carruthers was on his way out?

Definitely. Remember that awful game against Burton when he didn’t score and definitely didn’t play a massive part in the vital (and excellently worked) 2nd goal? Awful player, awful season, definitely past it (despite it being his best return at this level in 7 years), get him sold.
