Can't pencil in Carruthers just yet they estimated his injury would keep him out 4 weeks.
Wilder says he will be fit for Saturday.

Chucked the baby out with the bathwater there haven't you?Ramsdale
Wilson. Wright. O'Connell
Freeman. Riley
Carruthers O'Shea Fleck
Sharp. Hanson
Maybe a bit harsh on Moore and Lavery, but apart from that the others need the biggest kicking Tufty can give them. Basham and EEL were dreadful. Coutts and Duffy have one pace - dead slow - which is OK when you're winning but not when you're not - and what McNuts is doing starting is beyond me.
It was weird, nobody around me was disappointed because we were so bad it was a joke.
Having 4 new faces ready to go is the only bright light tonight - though heaven knows what they thought they had got themselves into. It's a good job they've already signed!

GK: Moore
BACK 3: EEL. Wright: O'C.
MIDFIELD 5: Lafferty Fleck
Freeman. W/B Riley W/B
Duffy
STRIKERS: Sharp Hanson
Subs: Ramsdale; Reed; Clarke; Lavary; Basham; Carruthers; O'Shea.
Lafferty the 'enforcer'. Wing backs full licence to attack. When fully fit Carruthers could replace any one out of 4 players.
So Lafferty is playing CM? To gobsmacked to comment any further

Based on Wimbledon being a big physical side I would go with the following....
Moore...... EEL Wright O'Connell ............ Freeman Caruthers Fleck Duffy Lafferty....... Sharp Hanson
Ramsdale, Coutts, Basham, Lavery, Wilson, O'Shea, Riley.
Missing out totally Reed, McNulty, Done, Hussey, Brookes, Scougal, Clarke
Moore
Basham - Wright - O'Connell
Freeman - Coutts - Fleck Lafferty
Duffy
Sharp - Hanson
Subs - Ramsdale, Riley, EEL (rested cue to current form), Carruthers, Lavery, Done, O'shea
For me we need to stick with the principles that got us to top of the league. This 18 gives us
- 3 from 5 at CB, decision should be made on fitness and form
- 3 from 5 at CM, ditto
- 2 from 4 at WB (including Basham as an option at RWB given he did OK last season in that position, and excluding Done cause he shouldn't be played there unless it's an injury crisis)
- 2 from 4 upfront (Done and Lavery need to fight their way back in)
O'shea is something different I think ( I don't really know much about him), perhaps an option to change the shape of the team when needed.
Ultimately, we are top of the league and all the players getting slagged off have got us there. We don't need to chuck it in the bin after 3 poor results, some shit defending and, in truth, only 1 really poor performance.
I agree about Scougall - I cant see how he should fit in and to bring him on when Lafferty went off last week was baffling when we had O'Sea on the bench who is said to be very quick and a natural wing backIf Wilder doesn't bring Wright in it'll be his most baffling selection so far and it'll raise questions about stubbornness.
I've already posted my team with him and Wilson in for EEL and Basham, but I'd have the bench like this...
Ramsdale, Lafferty, Basham, Carruthers, O'Shea, Hanson, Clarke.
There's surely no room for Scougall anymore. I'd also have Brooks on there ahead of him, he'd be a far more worthwhile sub. But I think him and Done will always be in the squad no matter what. Which is a bit of a waste.
I agree Sheffielder, by reason for including Wilson and Basham on the bench is that over the last 3 or 4 games both Wright and Wilson have been on the bench.Wilson is a waste of a sub considering you already have Basham on the bench. I personally am not a big fan of Clarke, however I would have him in there instead. The reason I hear you ask... He scored 20 goals alongside Tom Pope (tall geezer) last year, so maybe that provides yet another option up top. Just need him to pick his bottom lip up. Also I would like Brook or Scougall. on the bench because he provides abit more balance to the left if required.
The rest I agree with though![]()
Good post and a sound approach.
Not sure Basham at the back rather than Wright has contributed more to the run of success and suggest Wright has more organisational ability and experience.
As for creativity and goal scoring, I think Wilder decided some weeks ago that we hadn't enough, certainly once he lost a bit of faith in Lavery during the time he was given the chance to establish himself, he in turn after Clarke and Done wasted their immediate opportunities.
As for midfield, Riley, Carruthers and O'Shea offer so much more energy and creativity. The Scunny and Bolton games are in sight and those three need to be integrated in time.
Hanson may be Plan A or Plan B and C, interesting.
