I'd go;

.........................Long
Brayford - O'Connell - Wilson - Hussey
Duffy - Fleck - Basham - Chapman
...................Sharp - Clarke

Ditto. And I reckon that's what it'll be. Our new slimmed down squad makes it a lot simpler to see our strongest XI.

Wasn't sure on formation though. Who plays off who in a 4-2-3-1?

I think Clarke once said that he prefers to play just behind the main striker.

I think Clarke and Sharp can rotate to be honest, on push on one drop.

I don't think Chapman will go straight into the team. I think Tufty goes with the same team again.

One big difference with Wilder compared to Adkins and Clough is

I get the impression CW prefers to play the same team as much as often.

Adkins always played a different team every match
And even towards the end of the season he still didn't seem to know his best 11.

They play 4 2 3 1 all preseason then soon as they buy Clarke it's 442 which doesn't suit the players imp. They should switch to 4231 and switch between Clarke and Sharpe up top Chapman willcome on after an hour

Hope so, I like O'Connell, looks like a proper hard case defender

I think so. With this brand of football I think you're always going to look like conceding, but I actually think O'Connell and Wilson have done a decent job of limiting the opposition so far, from what I've seen. Brush up on defending set pieces and sort Hussey's decision making out and I think we'll look fairly solid at the back.

We signed Hussey mainly because of his "wand of a left foot" - well so far that is clearly not the case

Look back at highlights. He's created loads that haven't been converted yet.

I've also seen him first hand, especially at Bolton when if he didn't cross it behind the goal line he way over hit it or didn't clear the first man.

On the positive side though he does get into good positions to make the cross and I'm sure he will get it right, but so far that's not been the case.

I've seen him live for us several times but the highlights remind you of the created chances.

He'll be a big hit imo

I remember a some good crosses going in on Tuesday night. I think he'll be an improvement on JMac and Harris, and lets face it that doesn't take much (I don't know what happened to Harris)

In response to this...

Drop Long for an untried teenager in League 1 football when he has done nothing wrong so far this season (and not that much wrong last season)?

...and this...

Sorry KimD. I can't understand thos one (scratches head in bewilderment).

I quote SBT...

Not understanding Long is part of a systemic problem seems to have alluded both some fans and managers alike.
It`s LOFT.

Ok, my suggestion was a bit premature, and no he hasn't done much wrong yet this term but longer-term he needs replacing - the lad doesn't do enough to deserve the shirt. He's not a leader, doesn't command his area, makes the occasional error and for me, just doesn't have the presence that you associate with a promotion winning side's keeper. I'd send him out on loan and bring someone in that we can all have confidence in. The fact that many of us debate Long's role suggests that he's not unanimously backed as a Kelly, Tracey figure would have been. I'd go as far as to say he makes me nervous at times on match day. As Ramon recently said on Bladesmad, I find myself applauding him for fairly routine saves on a match day, somewhat thinking "phew, thank god he didn't balls that one up". Of course - I'd never openly slate him on match day, that much does no good - but we do need a replacement IMO.

So bearing in mind the above, is Ramsdale a better option?

The Ramsdale suggestion was a bit tongue in cheek, Minty - the honest answer is, we don't know. We've got high hopes for him in future though, don't we mate. What we need is a proven keeper, now. So no - in that sense, of course he isn't.

Fair enough mate - being a newbie here I'm yet to understand other posters' irony!

Long

Brayford Wilson O'Connell Hussey

Duffy Basham Fleck Chapman

Sharp Clarke

Seeing people put O'Connell and Fleck in the right sided slots infuriates me. From now on anyone doing this will go down in my book as 'not a proper Blade'.
