He was seen by some on here as a world beater before we played them earlier this season but he had a poor match as he was marked out of the game. He even swpaaed wings but still got nothing

That's because (whisper it) he has no bottle. Hit him hard and early and that's him done for the day. A departed legend just gets better and better you know.

As was manifestly demonstrated on Saturday, you can be as good as you like in the air, but if the other fellow is decent as well and 6 inches taller, you haven't a prayer! Height is imperative, I'm afraid. The days of Joe Shaw are long gone.

Could you have a crafty word with Ryan Shawcross about a month's loan?

Cresswell may be an inch taller than Kennedy, but I think Kennedy is both stronger, better in the air, let alone better at everything else required by a centre half.

By the way Nikola Zigic failed to score against Kennedy (and Salt?) in a recent U21 game. In any case it's not completely fair on Kennedy to throw him in alongside McMahon or Hill, so we shouldn't dismiss him if he struggles - his ideal partner should be a big guy.

Nope. There are a lot of groundhoppers from Norway travelling around England at all times though. Could even be pig fans!

I can vouch for that. Last season on the way to Leyton Orient I was approached by a Norwegian family on the tube in my Blades shirt, they asked me if there was a game on and who was playing so I told them. They'd been to Old Trafford the day before, and decided on a whim to follow me to Brisbane Road and happily went off to buy tickets for the home end. Wonder what they made of the Steve Simonsen last minute masterclass!

We need to go with pace up front. We struggled against Donny at home because we lumped it up and the lanky steak of piss piggy twat just lapped it up.

There is no doubt that Cofie was dog shit against Hartlepool, but that really wasn't his type of game. The pitch was shit, it was scruffy with the ball being in the air most of the time and we were lumping it. Give it to him on the ground and let him run at the scummer and I think he'd give an altogether different performance. Somebody said that Donny's pitch is partly plastic which might suit Cofie too because it won't cut up and muddy his shorts!

I'd rather see Blackman in instead of Cofie, but he gives too much on the wing to sacrifice that and with Miller out we have no other pacy option up front.

Then I'm afraid you've seen very little of Kennedy. He's about 5'9"! I rate him very highly, but you would do well to factor in the immutable laws of Physics!

5'9"!?!?!? I've been told he was 6'2"! o_O

Not sure, but I'd have guessed 5'10, which is an inch shorter than Jags. I've seen him play five games. I think Cressy is 6'0 but his athleticism is waning.

I think Tel is actually 5' 11", so taller than Hill and Williams but as has been said it would be better for him to be partnered by another bigger lad. Howard got in easily between Hill and Williams for the first goal on Saturday so we need to avoid that happening.

His wiki says 5' 10"

Stand up straight, Kennedy! If his mum comes on here she needs to clear this up by telling us how high the latest pen mark on the door frame is; "Terry aged 5, Terry aged 6," etc.

Bah, you don't need to be tall to be a centre-half. Remember when Alan Wright played there up against the giant Leon Knight?

On a serious note, do you think if we're going to play 4-5-1 we should play Chappell instead of McAllister? I know he failed to beat the first man on a few occasions on Saturday but at least he tried to get into the game and seemed a lot more livelier than McAllister has done when he's played.

I would say yes. He had a go at his man and if he's a bit smarter he'll get past a few fullbacks

I've seen Chappell a few times now. He has yet to impress at all. I expect him to be shown the exit door at around the same time as Tonne, McAllister and Philliskirk.

Fair point, its the first I've seen of him... but times are hard and at least he's having a go (Compared to Cofie)... Can he play fullback ? :)

I'd go with - Westlake-McMahon-Kennedy-Hill at the back. I suspect he'll play Williams over Kennedy though, which will be a shame.

I think it's time for a Cofie break, don't you?

It really will be a patchwork back four tomorrow. Our lack of cover at centre-back was a gamble bound to catch up with us at some stage, but that's the stage we're strutting and fretting on at this time, I'm afraid. We have to hope that DW is given some leeway in the JTW. Murphy would seem to be a promising start, though I speak with all the wisdom of one who has never seen him play.

I hope it rains torrentially in Doncaster tonight! :(

After Saturdays game on a heavy pitch you might struggle to get them out of the dressing room!

An alternative to playing four fullbacks would be to replace Maguire with Kitson and let Cresswell and Cofie harass their back four - that is one thing those two can do. Run the two C's into the ground and then you could bring in Ironside and Gerolomo for the last 30 min. Just trying to be creative.

RB westlake CB McMahon CB LECSINEL JEAN-FRANCOIS or Kennedy LB Hill
RM Blackman CM Doyle CM MacDonald LM Flynn
ST Kitson ST Philliskirk

What I think we'll see:

Long
Westlake McMahon Hill Williams
McAllister Doyle McDonald Flynn
Blackman Kitson

What I would like to see:

Long
McMahon Kennedy Hill Williams
Blackman Doyle McDonald Flynn
DeGirolamo
Kitson

With Diego getting 60 minutes in a free role, told to just be himself, to be replaced by McFadzean with Blackman pushing up front (McFadzean and Flynn switching regularly to keep them on their toes). Followed by Ironside on for Kitson on 75.

Flynn and Blackman pushing on to support Kitson where possible. Doyle sitting back covering the defence.

It's amazing that we have got ourselves into such a mess again with no central defensive cover. The lack of aerial power against a big Donny side is very worrying. And I still can't believe Maguire could be so stupid given he knew the Hartlepool game was the last in which he could be banned for receiving 5 bookings.

I fear the worst - but you never know with the Blades.

Westlake's primary contribution has been to make some of us realise that McMahon is a decent full-back, after all! Williams' primary contribution has been to.......No, sorry, that one's beyond me.

McMahon Cresswell Kennedy Hill McAllister McDonald Doyle Flynn Kitson Blackman - seems the best of a bad job to me.

Edit - on reflection I have decided that McMahon in goal and playing with ten men is not a good idea. :)

That's not very polite....

Fear the worst I'm afraid. Too much ariel threat from Donny and our defence, in height will total 6"4. I also foresee Cotterill tearing Williams a new asshole.
