Yes I know it's a bit soon, but wanted to see how good/bad things actually are ... the formation, you may think rather optimistically, is based loosely on the 4-2-3-1 successful at the World Cup.

Simonsen

Kozluk Morgan New CB Taylor

Montgomery Williamson

Ward Britton Yeates

Bogdanovic

subs Aksalu Lowton Ertl Quinn Reid Evans Cresswell

Notes:
1 Can we have two new full-backs as well as a centre-back please?
2 Monty is in the destructive holding role, freeing Williamson as the more creative Xabi Alonson type.
3 Unlike my team, where he doesn't make the bench, Henderson will start the actual match.
4 Help!

I think you need more help, Williamson is out until about October at the earliest. Back four looks decidely ropey at the moment I must admit.

I thought Kozluk was for backup only ?

First Game, First Choice ......... HRRRRUUMMMPPPPHHHHH

"2 Monty is in the destructive holding role"

Yes, thats our midfield fucked, now how we gonna stop them

I think he will start with....

Simmo

Bartley Morgan Nosworthy Taylor

Yeates Monty Britton Cresswell

Hendo Boggy

Subs
Aksalu
Evans
Ward
Kozluk
Lawton
ertl
Quinn

Simonsen

Ertl Bartley Morgan Taylor

Monty

Ward Britton Yeates

Evans Cresswell

I think im right in thinking Ertl can play right back? if so, shaping up to be a reasonable team IMO.

Edit: Can Simon Walton play right back also? is he good enough?

depends who & if we sign but picking from those players I think I'd prefer to see Cressy and Boogy up top with Yeates on the left side of midfield and Ward (fitness depending) on the right. Think Cressy is wasted out wide.

Walton is injured and won't appear in a Blade shirt this season.

Jesus, ye just saw that on the website. a sign of history repeating itself from last season possibly?

Do you really, really think Blackwell is going to adopt that formation?

guess not. i'm just desperate to see some nice attacking football from us. my fingers are starting to hurt from being crossed for over a year..

Listerblade, if you are desperate to see some nice attacking football from us, forget it, Blackwell is a dinosaur, he wont change at all - For nice attacking football go elsewhere because Blackwell will not, cannot and stubbornly refuses to change his methods.
We are in for a season of excuses re: injuries, finance, world cup, tired players, greedy agents, poor support, etc etc etc

i'll keep waiting. can't exactly up and leave. blackie has had us doing it before, so no reason to hope for a slight chance he might do it again.

Two attacking wide men and two up front? Away at Cardiff? Err, no. Not going to happen

Agreed, more likely to be something like

Simonsen

New right back, Morgan, New centre half, Hopefully new left back

Ward, Monty, Britton, Ertl, Cresswell

Hendo ( If still here ) or Boggy

Blackwell hasn't got the capabilities to produce a footballing side - any one with any talent is soon shipped out on loan or played out of position.

if you've no faith in blackwell, say we get rid of him tomorrow, who would you replace him with? and who'd you want him to sign?

Id quite like too see lee clark have the job, he could link up well with speed (newcastle connection) both young and aspiring to succeed. He seems to have got the best out of some of there players (rhodes scores goals for fun) my housemates missus is a massive town fan and she says they play it on the floor but know when to mix it up away from home. which is essentially what we need.

with regards to players - who id like him to sign and what are budget could allow him to sign are two completely different matters, but im sure he wouldnt be as inept as blackwell, who has had basically 4 months to plan this and so far were short of atleast 5 first team players (cb,lb,rb,cm,lm) and i would say atleast another 3 squad players (cm,cb,st)

i would get rid of henderson and use some of the cash from that billy going to try and sign a cb and lw.

People dont like it but we need to exploit the loan market to a certain extent, bartley, emmanuel thomas, cleverly, are all player worth looking at. There are so many prem clubs in the north of england and we seem to be ignorant to the benefit of linking up with them.

Great Post DP !

Great post? Yes i agree that i dont think KB is the right man to get us up to the Prem, but Lee clark? Personally id rather see Speed have a crack at the job, just the name alone could inspire some good players to take a pay cut with our poor funds avialble at the moment.

Another striker? i think we're sorted with the strikers although i agree i would liek to see hendo go if im honest. I saw him play at forest for the first time and it was the worst performance ive seen a player play.. bar some of the England players for the WC. Since then he's been our best striker but he's got shocking disciplinary, and injury records and for the amount of games he plays he does nothing compared to cressy, and cressy with evans. evans learning from cressy i can see evans coming on leaps and bounds this year.

i still think its early to start looking at a team for Cardiff, firstly we need a team!, Taylor in my oppinon alrite going foward but shocking at defending. People keep slagging kozzy off but to be fair to him yes we all kow his limitations but i can't see the lad not giving it his all, and to be honest i can't see him letting us down. Not my first choice ofcourse but realistically he might well have to be.

Now with walton out we need a replacement because however much i like Squinny, he just isnt good enough since the back injury he has never been the same player, Monty will be the usual brilliant self, again we know his limitations but the lad is the hardest working player in the championship and people who slag him off dont realise without him, we would be in lack of a better word fucked. KB really has to get sorted before we can even start looking at a team we think might play away against cardiff

No point talking about lee clark he wouldn't take the job they have more money to spend than us and will have past us in 3/4 years time.

Yes, another Striker, Ched didnt cut the mustard last year, apparently his attitude stinks, my mate works on a community project at the training ground and he says he walks about the place like he's big time, when lets be honest, he isnt. Wards injuries worry me, (the reason villa released him and probably why chezzy got good cash when they could) and if we sell henderson (lets hope!), we can't risk being over reliant on bogdanovic and cresswell. Henderson is not our best striker, he's not fit to lace cresswells boots, he's lazy, never looks interested and his and montys disciplianry record was basically the majority of uniteds disciplinary record last season. i think ched will sadly be another billy blunt, not a passing style manager therefore...... not enough goals.

The whole Kozluk issue is a joke, he's useless, not good enough for barnsley so he should definately not be good enough for us, we RELEASED HIM for gods sake, its nothing but desperate from blackwell and goes to show his lack of quality when scouting and overall contact with players and agents. He should not have to be first choice, he shouldnt even be at the club.

if monty could pass, he would then be brilliant, monty works his arse off and does give his all, but he's not the be all and end all of SUFC, lets be honest, if he left it wouldnt be that bad, realistically out of the teams that finished above us last year how many of them had a hard working 100% dedicated midfielder.......who cant pass.

agree on the great post by DP, good read. Again not sure about clark, this is the problem, manager is the same as players, who can we get with budget and attract? should definitely get a few gems with the loan, I think Bartley will arrive, could we really entice cleverley?

Ched didnt cut the mustard last year true, but if you look at his performances its clear to see he's a lad with low confidence hence he's trying almost to hard to score, for a striker its all about confidence, soon as he's got it he'l be blasting them in, i mean have you seen his shot power?? one of those is on target no chance the keeper will hold it, and im sorry but anyone who has made it to be a professional football player in the 3rd most watched league in the wolrd. has a right to walk with abti of swagger

Kozzy whether you like him or not is our best right back at the moment, yes we relased him but as i said and you have he is our only choice at the moment like it or not.

Again though disagree with no monty, if he left wouldnt be that bad? seriously? Squinny has be rubbish ever since his back injury, and williamson is class but always injured, Britton is suppose to be good, in all honesty i havnt seen the lad play really so who else does that leave us if monty went? i mean seriously do you rekon someone in the blades squad works as hard as monty? Every decent team has a player to do the dogs body role, monty can pass just no long balls he's not their for ditribution he's there to brake up play and to be honest if you can find me a player who brakes up play and works harder than monty does in the championship id be very surprised?

Looking at Evans last season he was desparately low on confidence, but I don't think his attitude was bad. The last home game against Swansea he was definately not lacking in effort and looked absolutely gutted when he didn't get a goal to the point where team mates had to console him. From what I've seen I can't see an attitude problem. I've said it before and I'll say it again - he is a good footballer and will cut it in this division, once he gets one goal the rest will follow.

Good posts DP like i said Lee clark wouldn't entertain us, i think he will end up at Newcastle by xmas if there bottom 5. The kozluk signing is a joke waste of a wage and shows the direction we are heading. According to the star we won't be signing nosworthy as Sunderland want a transfer fee however we are still in talks. I know the star can't be trusted but normally get things right when it comes to us not signing someone. Not sure bartley will arrive have a feeling Wenger will want him to have a change of scenery but we will see. If seth is right and we are talking to 4 defenders then i expect them to be Bartley, Nossy, Possibly seip and another.

Might have to be the cheapest now weve agreed to pay Waltons wages for the year!
