Tony Cascarino is a big fan of the blades, and is a massive fan of Chris Wilder. Says he loves how we play and has predicted that we'll get promoted again this year.

Here's the problem though, yesterday he said Crystal Palace should sack Frank de Boer as he hasn't got much of a clue and give the job to Wilder.

What if they do? A couple more defeats and it's highly likely. What if they did come knocking. Would he be interested? We all know his love for the blades but if they come knocking with a 3 year deal of £2 million a year it'd be very tempting I recon.

It doesn't help that Allardyce recommended him too.

I think there is a lot of reasons for Wilder to stay for the time being.

- He has assembled a team of players that he wanted, that play for him and understand how he wants them to play.
- Us fans love him.
- He is doing rather well here.
- Palace are a sinking ship.
- No affinity to Palace (I don't think he does anyway).
- Having to move to London etc.
- He's a Blade!!

We have a lot going for us - I'm not worried that Wilder will be tempted away until he thinks he has gone as far as he can with us - and he knows we have much more potential than where we are now.

Palace should sack de Boer intact they shouldn't have hired him.

I don't think wilder would want to go there at least not this season any way. The only way I see him leaving right now is to Southampton or above.

I don't know the guy but have seen him since he was a young lad plying his trade for the Blades. He always gave 100%. He was perhaps never going to be a top level player but he was always a perfect fit for this club.

I think he's a loyal bloke. If he's backed he will stick with it. I don't doubt that if we get 2 years down the line and the club aren't able to fulfil his ambitions for us he'd be tempted. But not now. He's living the dream.

So why did he end up at Halifax, Oxford, then Northampton and then us.

Don't take Wilders loyalty for granted, that's directed at our boardroom more than us fans

He will never be a multi millionaire whilst at United, signing for any Premier League club and he will be before a ball is even kicked.

He might not go yet, and it might not be to a club like Palace, but if he thinks he's not getting backed he will leave like anybody else if a tremendous offer came in

I would imagine whilst he's mostly getting what he wants here (both personally and in terms of the team) he'll stick around.

The only reason I could see him jumping ship for the money would be if Kev starts dicking him around.

Give it 2 more seasons and we will be overtaking the likes of palace. So there's no incentive for CW to go there unless he's all about the money. And I think we know the answer to that. He's got a job to do here first, that I believe he's passionate about. The only reason he would think about leaving, would be if the owners & the board didn't have the same ambition. Edit: beat me to it guys.

Few million quid and set for life, as Wilder has always said about the players he picks, he loyal but not sentimental.

If he gives us another couple of seasons and feels we've missed out on promotion due to backing from the board or he's taken us as far as he can, I see no reason and wouldn't begrudge Wilder a big money move to a top ten PL side.

Wilder deserves all the rewards that come his way, he's a talented manager whose destined for big things.

Future England manager, why not?

Wilder will never manage England because you have to do everything the FA say. In short they're not his style, thankfully!

He's not going anywhere this season - or next, I imagine. But if we have a good season he should be offered a salary that reflects the fact that he has plenty of other options. He should be rewarded for his good work. We shouldn't count on the fact that he's a Blade as evidence that he'll stay under any circumstances.

Saying that, I'd like to think that Wilder's main ambition is to take the Blades as far as he can. Earning two million quid a year might be very desirable, but ambition's about achievement.

There's more chance of me having a thriving career in public relations than there is of Wilder going to Palace.

They wouldn't be high on his list, however Everton, Spurs or Southampton might be more appealing and all could afford a nicely inflated wage.

You can pretty much divide these comments into two groups. Those who genuinely believe Wilder will eventually leave because of his ability and those who want to preempt McCabe doing the dirty on him. Surprised JJ hasnt jumped in by now.

99% of the clubs in the country are further North than Southampton...

There's a couple of relevant things we know about Wilder. One is that he's been willing to change clubs in a controversial manner when he thought it was the right move (hence why the Oxford fans despise him). The other is that he's said more than once there are things that would cause him to leave us (example being his comments about the claims that Evans was signed by board decision and not him).

In that sense, I think it would be naive to suggest that the only way Wilder would leave is via sacking. I'm sure there are other reasons that could occur. What you need to measure that against is the current position and his personal relations to it. The obvious being that this is his "dream job" (although how much he's also dreamed about managing in the Prem any beyond is anyone's guess). The realistic point is that he's built the basis of a very good squad and got it playing the football he wants to play. He's at a club who can have realistic mid and long term prospects of progression (establishing a place in the Championship and looking beyond). He's at a club who have good facilities, a strong youth system, strong support.

So here's why I think we're safe: I think the type of job offer good enough to lure him away from the Lane is still the type of club that will not look low down the chain enough to make the offer. The Palace job, for instance, would have failure written all over it. They'd be asking for miracles and if they sack a manager now, seeing his replacement still in the job next season is unlikely in itself. Lots of teams do what we did, bring in an Adams and then let him go when there's no improvement. If you look a step higher and say could a team like Everton tempt him away? I think he'd have to at least consider it. But I don't think there's much chance anyone like that will come looking for him.

If what we've seen of Wilder so far is anything like a fair reflection of his management ability then I think it's fair to say the guy is going up the table with someone. I just don't see it happening now with everything we have to offer vs. the likely alternatives.

I've often thought......

"Should I put Radio Four back on?"
Indeed. I gave up on talk sport when they has some twat on mid morning always looking to shock everyone, what a cock he was, not Mike Parry but some guy talking about how smart he was and from the wrong side of the tracks. Then you've got Adrian Durham saying anything he thinks might start a row, sickening.

The only guy who made me laugh on there was Ian wright when he randomly starting going on about how great it would be to have a monkey butler. Totally absurd, but very funny. The rest of it made me sick :)
