Talksport got me thinking

Rate teams go through managers now he could leave Knill in charge sign a 3 year deal get his contract paid up and be back at the lane for Xmas with a few Million in his sky rocket..

Or he could crack on with the job in hand don't see him going anywhere unless the club he's going to are in good shape.

If we don't go up within next 2 seasons then maybe he will leave.just don't see it now

Indeed. I gave up on talk sport when they has some twat on mid morning always looking to shock everyone, what a cock he was, not Mike Parry but some guy talking about how smart he was and from the wrong side of the tracks. Then you've got Adrian Durham saying anything he thinks might start a row, sickening.

The only guy who made me laugh on there was Ian wright when he randomly starting going on about how great it would be to have a monkey butler. Totally absurd, but very funny. The rest of it made me sick :)

Was that the dickhead John Gaunt? I stopped listening to talk sport around that time too. It was compounded by Darren Gough the Barnsley come Spurs, MK Dons fan. What a nob. That being said always liked Hawksby and Jacobs if they're still on?

The only reason to go to Palace would be for the money, the only expectation they have is to stay in the premier league. With us, fair enough we can't match the wages or the premier league but he has the chance of taking us from league one to the premier league and keeping us there. A lot more to gain career wise at sufc for the time being.

He'd give it time here, before jumping ship. Why leave now?

You can pretty much divide these comments into two groups. Those who genuinely believe Wilder will eventually leave because of his ability and those who want to preempt McCabe doing the dirty on him. Surprised JJ hasnt jumped in by now.
Didn't you see #11 then? :)

The biggest question has to be why do you listen to Talksport ?

I was listening to the Saturday morning breakfast show on the way to the Lane when he said he fancied us for back to back promotions. Then I switched it on yesterday and he was at it again! It's every time I switch it on!

Don't really like talksport but like Tony Cascarino, very knowledgable pundit

Do we pay him enough to keep in Peroni?
Yes? He ain't going anywhere then.

If he gives us another couple of seasons and feels we've missed out on promotion due to backing from the board or he's taken us as far as he can, I see no reason and wouldn't begrudge Wilder a big money move to a top ten PL side.

The problem with that is Wilder's on a roll at the moment and is making other clubs take notice. If he stagnates at United for a few years then his star will wane along with his market value. If someone offers him big bucks now then he will leave, he would be mad not to. Anyone who would hold it against him is a hypocrite, it would be like you or I returning a lottery win.

Wilder walk away from us, just now

funniest thing Ive ever read on here,

this is his dream job , he knows if he gets us in the prem he becomes a true GOD to half of Sheffield

well 10 per cent of sheffield if its an owls fan reading this

But how long does he give us to get there. Btl.

Every man has his price, and it's not always money, but I don't think Mr Wilder is the Bruce type, he likes his Root's and it will take something special for him to leave

Re thread title - If Talkshite has got you thinking you may well be in need of psychiatric helpo_O

Probably not but English managers in the top flight are at a premium.

Southgate has had a very average club record and is currently the national teams best hope.

True, but he always strikes me as the perfect example of a yes man, something CW isn't.

I think The Crab has answered this one for me, thanks!

How Southgate is the manager of any national side is anyone's guess.

My opinion (& hope) is that CW stays were he is loved/idolised until United are well and truly settled in the Premiership and then take the England job when he has trained his successor to the standard expected of a successful United manager. Billy Sharp anyone?;)

Given time CW will put in place, a structure and blueprint for the club as a whole, that will continue whoever (as long as the club stipulates) is put in charge in the future.

He won't go palace but I if we carry on like where going he's got to be one of the most in demand managers

I think too many of us on here have their Bladey McBlade glasses on.

The money he'd get from a Premiership job would mean he'd leave here in a heartbeat.

How much do think De Boer and Allardyce were on at Palace? How much do you think Wilder is on right now?

He's too smart to move to Palace, even for big bucks. It would ruin his career imo. Think of the Adkins situation, great under the right circumstances but Adkins wasn't smart enough to realise where his strengths and weaknesses were, he got found out at United because he couldn't manage that type of expectation and now he's sitting on a panel looking at dives.

I'm not saying Wilder is like Adkins at all, but I think he's smart enough to know that his success has come from creating tight knit teams that play for the team and not for themselves, knowing that if you pull together in that way everyone is succesful. He wouldn't have the chance or time to create that in the Premier league and he has no prior PL experience, he'd inherit a team of players where only some of them would buy into his way of doing things, there'd be the egos that he'd need to get rid of and that's a long term project. IMO He's going to need to get promoted to the PL before he takes another job there just to get the right experience. If he does leave it will be at the end of a season where he has a full pre season to prepare.

So why did he end up at Halifax, Oxford, then Northampton and then us.

Don't take Wilders loyalty for granted, that's directed at our boardroom more than us fans

He will never be a multi millionaire whilst at United, signing for any Premier League club and he will be before a ball is even kicked.

He might not go yet, and it might not be to a club like Palace, but if he thinks he's not getting backed he will leave like anybody else if a tremendous offer came in
How do we know he want's to be a multimillionaire? What he experiences as a Blade is priceless. No amount of money can buy a person's soul and I would argue right now he aint going anywhere till he has completed "Project Blades"
Why is it assumed that every human is all about the money?,we aren't.

I know what you mean because I am in a similar position, I have been quite lucky in my choice of profession that I can provide myself and family with a good standard of living.
I am happy doing exactly what I am doing, where I am doing it, and I have no plans to change anything and money is not the driver. However my money would not increase a hundred times over in my profession. I might get a few grand a year more working elsewhere, and to me that's not worth moving from somewhere where I am happy.

Regardless of what Wilder says in the media he expects support from the boardroom, he is still in his honeymoon period, but if his job becomes impossible because of boardroom interference or lack of ambition he will leave regardless of what he thinks about the club

You've previously said - many times - Sheffield is a shithole and you live here because your good lady won't move.

Glad to hear you're now happy here these days. :)

Not like things to get twisted.
Being settled here, with friends, family, my house, my work etc. and Sheffield being miles behind similar sized cities is not the same thing.
