He's too smart to move to Palace, even for big bucks. It would ruin his career imo. Think of the Adkins situation, great under the right circumstances but Adkins wasn't smart enough to realise where his strengths and weaknesses were, he got found out at United because he couldn't manage that type of expectation and now he's sitting on a panel looking at dives.

I'm not saying Wilder is like Adkins at all, but I think he's smart enough to know that his success has come from creating tight knit teams that play for the team and not for themselves, knowing that if you pull together in that way everyone is succesful. He wouldn't have the chance or time to create that in the Premier league and he has no prior PL experience, he'd inherit a team of players where only some of them would buy into his way of doing things, there'd be the egos that he'd need to get rid of and that's a long term project. IMO He's going to need to get promoted to the PL before he takes another job there just to get the right experience. If he does leave it will be at the end of a season where he has a full pre season to prepare.

He's probably on c£500k / £10k a week here. The Palace job will be £2m /£40k a week at least. Taking the job and getting fired would still net him a significant wind fall.

Plus, if you want to talk ambition, he's probably 8 straight losses from McCabe getting an itchy trigger finger - if he took the Palace job, he'd be 8 straight wins from being lined up as the next England manager!!

How is Sheffield 'miles ' behind other cities? What does it lack.?Perhaps you could become a driving force for it instead of expecting someone else to take responsibility. Having travelled 35 countries and many cities let me tell you it's awesome in comparison. Largely because of the wonderfully connective nature of it's inhabitants but for many other reasons you might find were you to adjust your ,with all due respect,level of thinking.

Go have a look at Varanasi say or Chennai,Nairobe,even Kuala Lumpur where the infrastructure is decent and it's spotless but no bugger even looks you in the eye because they are too busy jostling for position with the other rats.

Perspective is where it's at. Find some pride in where you live. Life is meant to be joyous, but it is never an external fix.

Unless of course you are at Bramall Lane on a Saturday arvo perhaps. Even that is temporary.
