I realise the season isn't over and the championship if nothing else gives no end of twist and turns.

It was important not just to keep the pressure on that we won today. We need to go into the playoffs without a miss out hangover.

I've been thinking the past week about how disappointed I have been to see us chuck the opportunity away to essentially be nearly up with those 3 previous games. We could be sat on 95 points right now. ☹️

And whilst I still am. In a way do we also have to hand it to Leeds and Burnley?

They've both been relentless. Even if we win all 3 remaining games. Assuming Burnley or Leeds dont slip up again we will finish 3rd on 95 pts. Which would be mad.

But isn't it interesting.
I'd put money on us having the 3rd highest wage bill after Leeds and Burnley. Which just shows you how for the most part that's what helps get you into high league positions in any division.

But for now we just need to take each game as it comes still. In a way Monday could be fascinating.
Id expect Burnley to be well up for it and nervous in equal measures. However we need to win so I feel this could end up playing into their hands sadly.

Course win and it's nearly game on. We would still need them to lose again. QPR away and Millwall at home could be stumblers but even today they rode some luck. Watford nearly going 2-0 up and yet in the end they end up winning.

Playoffs we know how this ends for us.... Or do we? We would be facing sides where we've beat them at some point this season. Mind you we've had that in prior campaign's

A few points from today.

Performance wise, that was okay at best, some really good individual performances instead of a good team performance, Peck, Choudhury and Holding especially.

Would have been nice to have a better performance, but the win was more important and hopefully that will put some belief and confidence back into the players, on the back of those 3 losses.

Souza as captain, he's not a leader but he seems to raise his game when he has the armband, he should have it when possible.

Impressed with Moore when he came on, yes it was a scuffed shot and he had a few poor touches at first, but he grew into the game, and created that 2nd goal just by putting himself about and being a nuisance, I'd like to see more of that from him.

Holding, good performance and seemed to work well with Anel and Burrows, just a shame that he couldn't do 90 minutes, hopefully he can get up to full fitness for the games coming up.

86 points and guaranteed to finish in the top 3 now, Sunderland look like they're sleepwalking into the playoffs, and killing their momentum which you need for the playoffs.

Before a ball was kicked we’d have snapped ppls hands off for a third placed finish with all in/outs of pre-season . As the seasons gone on we’ve got results .. some we deserved.. some we definitely didn’t but it’s been a season of pragmatic football.. if I’m honest hard watch at times.. We’ve had a handful of on the front foot performances & have won more games at this level for a long long time .. yes it’s about results… but if I’m truthful I’ve come away from a lot of games thinking it wasn’t very entertaining nor attack minded .
I’m starting to lose interest in the modern game & that’s not just watching us ..just losing my love for the game sadly ⚔️

Back back back, when we get near opponents box we look like we don't have a clue. We can go one up and hold on, my worry Is when we get to play offs we go one behind as we aren't an all out attacking side.

It's such a shame given the talent we've got

It'd be a much more interesting finish without the 2 points deducted!

Both Leeds and Burnley would be feeling much more pressure.

Wasn't overly impressed by them, watching them on TV yesterday.

Time to review is after it's all done. A win tomorrow and suddenly all the pressure is off us and on Burnley. Odds as they would still do it but you never know.

Taking stock of the season;

August-December: Good - smaller squad, settled team, strong defensively with decent attacking threat

January onwards: Poor - players brought in wrong positions, increasing squad size and needing to give new players minutes. Best starting lineup muddled. Consistency and momentum lost.

Basically bringing Cannon in who doesn't suit 1 up top, Holding who hadn't played a competitive fixture in almost 2 years and BBD to play in wrong position and hadn't had much game time previously in the season meant we had players coming in who needed to be accommodated but didn't address the requirements we needed in Jan transfer window and thus impacting the overall squad dynamics.
