I don't mind swearing and shouting when it's in the heat of the moment. But those who stand up when nowt's going off, just to empty their witless poison onto the rest of us...

Quite right.

My daughter and myself have season tickets on the Kop and she has sat there once (v Watford), however due to the fact she is only 7 she struggled with the view especially when we attacked the Kop.

So we now transfer our tickets up to the Westfield, where it doesn't matter if the Sheffield Sharks are sat in front of her as the rake is so steep. But as others have said the atmosphere is a bit poor.

go on the john street in the family section green steps. that's the family family bit. decent view too.

Just wanted to chip in and say thanks for the replies that people have posted; i've been wondering at what age i should take my son (currently 3) to his first game.

I may well leave it a year as he currently struggles to sit down through a full episode of Wonderpets and it would appear that 5 years is a common starting point.

Wonder pets is fuckin brilliant ,he's got no chance of enjoying United ;-)

Hope you have better debuts than my 3 ,Benfica 1-3/Barnsley 1-2 and Newcastle 1-2 is our sorry rollcall. I'd like to say they all saw a goal but they were asleep for 2 of them and shit themselves with the noise of the crowd when we did.

We could learn from them a bit down at BDTBL ..... "What makes it work? TEEEEEAMWORK!" :D

I've said before that HH the Younger I/sufclucy's first match ever was a reserve match to see if she could last 90 minutes, and it's cost me a bloody fortune ever since ;)

She was three then, but something of a Daddy's Girl, so I was always confident that she's be alright at matches. HH the Younger II just isn't very interested, but she's one who'd rather partake than watch when it comes to sports and games. She went for the first time when she was four, I think .....

HH the Younger III is most definitely a Daddy's Girl, and has a season ticket, but doesn't get to all matches. Not even all Saturday matches, but she's getting there ..... she's nearly six now. She was four the first time she went and actually knew what a match was, but technically her first match was in some Youth Cup Final 2nd Leg at the Lane v Southampton when she was a matter of weeks old ;)

We lost 4-1 as I recall after a decent draw away. HH the Younger IV hasn't had the delights of the Lane yet, as she's only 11 months, and the only reason HH the Younger III went as a baby is because Mrs HH II invited herself ;)

Anyway, after all that reminiscing, tek t'nipper along cooper. Don't get me wrong, last season there were a couple of incidents which actually made me hand my season ticket back. After a few words to the right people, not to mention a few words aimed from 'interested parties' in my ear made me step back to the virtuous path.

Anywhere on John Street, or more towards the Kop side of the South Stand should be fine. Just take along summat to keep him occupied, like Principia Mathematica, Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, or The Cat In The Hat, because they do get bored.

I always asked them to keep count of the corners when little as well. It would have been unusual if there were loads, concentrated their minds, ensured they were watching the game and beginning to understand it, and most importantly kept their gobs shut :D

This is sewious

Wonder blades ,wonderblades we're on our way

Ha ha ha ha! It is quality! It beats Pingu out of sight for God(TM)'s sake! I'd love to get that chant going!

Family Stand is no better than the South Stand. Had a season ticket in there with our 4yr old (at the time) girl and where we were was full of teenagers. The swearing was pretty bad. In my experience where ever you go in the ground you are going to get it.

Not long after I'd started taking our oldest 2 I had to go away for a week. Whilst on the phone to my daughter she said 'when are you coming home you f###### daddy!!' the wife went mad...she'd obviously got that from the game.

My mte always takes the little uns up into the Westfield Health corner as they can see whilst sat down and its generally bad language free unlike being sat next to my good self.
