Only my second post on here (after many years 'lurking'). I'm as sick as anybody that we've not gone up this year. And baffled why we haven't been able to score goals like we have tonight against worse teams.

We all know that our season has been utter bobbins and most of us feel hugely let down (given the high hopes we had following the end of last season).

My point (yes,I do have one) is that I hope those in charge at the Lane (ALL of them) think long and hard before any decisions about Nigel Clough are made... or before they allow him to make any. Just reading the threads on here tonight show what an 'instant' and 'knee jerk' society we live in.... made possible by the internet. After 15mins some of our brothers were posting really vitriolic stuff.... (I fully agreed with rhem at the time!) but when we got back to 5-5 (Christ... when have ever done that?!!!) it seemed a bit out if place.

Don't intent this post to be provocative guys, I'm not a clapper or a slasher, but I TRULY hope that those in charge of the club I love and all those who have an immediate influence on it (in the way that I (as a supporter) don't) take a breath, step back, take stock and then make a reasoned decision regarding where we go from here.

It's been a crap season and one I'll gladly forget. Rest assured Ive seen some Reeeeeeeal garbage since 1976. But, having witnessed a bit of something tonight that I wish I'd seen a WHOLE lot more of through the whole season its made me think that maybe... just maybe there is a baby in the bath water that I was willing to chuck down the drain at 8pm tonight.

Like I said - Im not looking to create contriversy. Just hoping for the best for my/our club. Even on a sickening night and after a crap season - UTB always guys. Onwards and together.

it's not' knee jerk' or 'instant' for many tho is it?

Many have seen this coming for some time

Many have noticed Cloughs bizarre decision making for some time

Many have ousted Clough's inability to sort the defence out for some months

Many have noticed all season the poor negative tactics, particularly at home

This is not decision making based on one game. This is based in the main on a piss poor season given the resource Clough has had at his disposal

Like the OP says, it's been a crap season. It's not a knee-jerk reaction, it's the culmination of a farcical League campaign which began with the worst pre-season I've ever seen.

Totally respect that view Blader (from you and a multitude of others who have no doubt spent more of your hard-earned than I've done this year (not a sarcastic comment by the way - just an admission that I haven't been able to get to many games)).

My point was that there is clearly a decision to be made. I just hope that all those responsible do it with a cleae, calm head. Emotions are running especially high tonight (mine included... thank goodness for the tight gun laws we have!). My view would be that if you're going to act fast then it's probably best to have thought long and carefully before doing so.
