Tactical phuck up

I think the baffling substitutions are actually deflecting away from the more worrying point that the equaliser was coming from half-time. No support for the attack, and that's why Done and Sharp have to run their bollocks to raisins.

Not a good performance today but completely miss judged by Adkins I'm afraid to say with his substitutions
Where all three injuries I don't think so maybe Balham but the other two a complete and utter balls up
Totally agree absolutely ridiculous tactics and substitutions ... For once I might have to listen to NA interview just to here how he explains that loads of bollox

It's straight after the match, but at the moment that seems like the worst performance of the season (I know) and it's down to Adkins I think.

We played to their strengths (pass and move) by defending a lead.

Once they'd equalised - having missed a very good chance at the back post, and then the offside penalty - we were more progressive. Attacking their weakness (defending) I thought we finally looked dangerous, even with Billy on one leg.

It was a Clough game.

Fwiw the three subs I didn't mind, though that seems to be the current preoccupation of this thread.

So it is now official. Adkins has previously been lucky and he is completely clueless.

1. Having decided to give everybody a chance (probably because he knew he couldn't afford to buy anyone) he wastes maybe ten games with that ploy and loses points to the rest of our opposition in this division.
2. Having identified his defence is fucking useless (and he can't afford to buy anyone) he belatedly correctly identifies that if he stiffens midfield they will protect the back four and at least we won't concede.
3. He identifies that height and strength is the key to that midfield. May be boring and slow but it works.
4. Having got a bit of a run together with the solid team he has identified as being his "best" he selects it, gets 1-0 up, is in no danger of conceding and then changes three of that successful midfield with two midgets in the wrong positions and a lazy twat.
5. Let's accept that they were letting Swindon come onto them. Let's accept they needed to get back on the front foot. FFS Done was blowing out of his arse, why not keep midfield stiff and put JCR or Che on to chase everything and take the pressure off?

I just give in.

And by the way, if he says hardworking and honest again he can pick up the phone and fuck right off.

It's the same every week really. He's proving on a regular basis that he really doesn't have a football brain. I suppose he was a goalkeeper, and a physio...

Here's a simple example of what he could have done:

Hammond off, Woolford off - Baxter on, Flynn on. Flynn to the right, Done to the left, Coutts to the middle, Baxter behind Sharp. Not difficult to come up with. And how much more sense would that have made?

But he seems to lose his mind during games.

FWIW - the thread is about a tactical fuck (spelt correctly) up, and I would hazard a guess that the greater majority did not like the 3 subs or the positions that they played in - which probably makes you in a very, very, very small majority.

From a happy clapper.

If we had not got a reputation of a sacking club

If we had not spent millions in getting rid of Clough and Co.

If we could afford it.

Adkins would get the sack . We are either going backwards or standing still .

The board have a dilemma . But what do us fans know , only that we pay the money so we are allowed to moan.

Fuck me , you could not make it up

All about opinions of course but I find it truly baffling if you were ok with the three substitutions. Do you really think that they didn't affect us in a negative way?

Not seen a more disappointing performance from a manager ever. He wants to be careful not to do it too many times or he will lose the players still working for him.

The subs that is. He seems to get it right going to diamond after half time, then he got too clever.

:D I was going to mention the honest and hard working phrase but you stole my thunder Snowman. When I played football, I was honest and hard working, didn't alter the fact that I was a crap footballer though.

Do you really think new signings would improve the way this team plays?
Absolutely fucking not.
It's not likely to, it would have to be a bloody good signing. Someone who knows how to grab a game by the bollocks in midfield and drive us forward

The players have to take some of the blame, today was just like the worst of the Clough era in that when narrowly ahead they abdicated all responsibility and surrended the first two thirds of the pitch allowing Swindon to come on to us.

Throw in our policy to defend like cunts at least once per match and once again we're pissing away points.

I think he's realised that too, listening to his interview.

I'd like to reject the happy clapper tag.

I think we've got, er, issues - they're just not the ones that get trotted out eg McEveley, Collins, the Board, Sammon etc.

Anyway, back to the tactics...

Spineless second rate two hats and Adkin's must have been taking advice from Clough on his subs. And if he says 'I made the subs because we thought we could push on and win it' one more time when we are clearly hanging on I'll throw the radio out the winnda

so we are doing ok with coutts the head of a diamond with hammond as the holding mid. and bash and woolford on right and left.. then fucking flynn comes on and i said 'here we go'.. flynn does his usual monty impression except he doesn't know where he is playing. but most inexplicably of all he puts baxter on as holding midfielder.. i mean wtf?? why is this wage stealing bastard still at our club? and then tops it off with Reid.. and the midget midfield is back.. was Clough back in the dugout??
threw the game away.
i felt sorry for billy and done. with zero support they ran their bollocks off.

Adkins does not help us or himself.

Is it time for a change - not yet.

Will we get promotion via play offs - yes we will , ( with or without Adkins )

Not heard the interview but that was clearly the intention wasn't it?

But we were stuck in a defensive mindset and didn't wake up till they scored.

Think perhaps it's about time they update the signage in the home dressing room.

Take my advice and don't bother, the man is so full of crap it's untrue. Adkins has not progressed this club one jot since he arrived and his continuing failings were there for all to see today in yet another pathetic performance. Once again we played with no ambition and gave the opposition too much respect, and the substitutions, well, you couldn't make it up.

Even if it was who seriously would replace 75% of the midfield with players with only a few minutes match time between them at a stage of the game where everyone on their side were buzzing?

You're so on the ignore if you're not already

But once we actually started going forward for 5 minutes they looked ordinary.

We had a very good shot at the end.

We weren't going to contain them the way we played first half. He had to try something. Coutts went central, and it 'progressed' from there.

What today shows us is that Adkins has very little room to manoeuvre with this squad. He can only play his preferred formation with today's starting XI. All the subs are too weak and small to play in a flat 4-4-2. I'm surprised Baxter is being let in the squad.

We urgently need to make some additions and continue to ship out the dross (which is a lot)

Most managers in this divison would give their right arm to have "43" professional players at their disposal.
The team he inherited just needed tweeking in the summer, that why we all had big expectations for this season.
Adkins is bleating about having too many. Well why doesn't he fuckin try and use them properly.

Is there anywhere that sells these glasses that you seem to watch the match through?
If so i would like to purchase some so that i may actually enjoy watching us for once.

Back to reality though and another bottom half team as come and played us off the park from more or less start to finish.
