Anyone want to put it in simple terms to me, are we fucked? Are we ok? Are we not so bad?
We spend what we have, no more. The owner doesn't have more money to pump in. The indication is the squad cost will reflect the income level moving forward.

I have issues with how it's been spent but the business is being run as a business rather than a vanity project. If we don't get promoted, the wage bill will be circa 25% smaller unless we sell a few 🤷‍♂️

We paid too much for average players, one example £30k a week for McBurnie or £40k that would have secured Ollie Watkins at the time
Baffles me that people still think it was possible that we could have signed Watkins once Villa came in. They were paying Ross Barkley £100,000 a week on his loan deal.

Doesn't matter what we offered, Villa would have offered more. Best to just admit defeat because if you try to match, you've just raised what every other player inside and outside the club will ask for.

Imagine that, we didn't even sign him anyway and now we've just added around £250k per week in salaries with absolutely nothing to show for it (25 man squad average of 10k increase per player)

Apart from what he put in last December you mean?

He's put in £5m in 5 years according to the accounts

And according to companies house there was a further allotment of shares for cash, in December.

The accounts are heading towards a year old. Opinions and claims made about them are okay but things happening after the year end date need to be taken into account when trying to influence people.

I think the evidence clearly shows we spend what we have. I've never claimed he's taking money out, only that the utilisation of allocated funds has been poor

Who said you had? My point is that you’re using historic information without being aware of events after that year end.

Fair enough. I'm probably harking back to our shoutbox conversation the other day. As far as I am aware, any money put in after year end was a short term loan to cover capital requirements?

It’s share, not a loan.

I remember now. So money was put into the club and allocated as shares to the person/body that put the money in. From your experience, would that make it easier to sell part of the club but keep some interest? Or is it more likely a way of putting capital in?

Works either way. Depends what the Princes overall strategy is.

The £5m wasn’t £1m per year btw
so 5m over 5 years doesnt average 1m

Nobody has ever argued with either of those points. You're doing Strawman again. We spent all the money, just more on fees than wages
ill say this your i enjoy your points of view on this forum. but you do like a bit of revisionist history. 🙂

we never said we hated wilder

we agreed with you about the prince

I have never, ever, ever said I hated Wilder. Why would I? That would be mental. I disagreed with him on a lot of stuff certainly.

I think I've been as critical of the owners performance as anyone tbh. Just tried to keep it factual

It does, but that’s not what you said

at i was wrong when i said that. we have had lowest wage bill, effectively a championship wage bill in the premier league

“ & turns out it was 1million a year.”

I see you’re accepting the bit about the £40m. Good.

the wilder was unfair as it more forum generalisation. with snake, back door etc comments

just dont try it next season if he regains his form he was getting in between his injury spells "i always knew brewster would come good" ;)

Can't deny it on Brewster. I couldn't see a player there at all!!

this news has come has come as huge surprised me because, i was told definitively on shoutbox when this was discussed, that i was wrong when i said that. we have had lowest wage bill, effectively a championship wage bill in the premier league

i was wrong also when i said the prince was just playing with house money & we only spent what we brought in. i was said that was wrong it was upwards of 40 million + & turns out it was 1million a year. the fulham owner did more in 4 days than prince in 5 years
I'm with you, mate. Been saying exactly the same thing.
Also been saying transfer fees are meaningless as there is lots of horse-trading, hardly any of that money actually changes hands - and we mainly recruited from teams who owed us money or we did player swaps (which severely limited the number of teams we could recruit from)
What really counts is wages: pay better wages, get better players. There's a reason why every player we were after "went to Villa" and that is because Villa (or other club) was willing to pay them more.
If we had an owner who actually had any money or the clout to raise it, or the cohones to spend it, we could have recruited better players at start of 2020-21 and stayed in the Premier League

Although I’m not in any camp that could see us spend beyond our means, you just have to look at the Haaland deal to see how right you are, on the face of it the deal isn’t all that expensive for a club like Man City, paying £70m release fee for one of the best strikers is pretty reasonable, then you realise what he’ll be getting p/w and you realise that it’s the wages that take these players to the places they go

you know that i wasnt discussing 2013. but id love to see the accounts

i was referenced 2018 onwards the Brooks sale financing the summer transfer window & then the big fees coming from the £250m we get from the premier league

so 5m over 5 years is still 1m a year or has maths changed

Well in the case of Haaland it's not the chance of winning the Champions League

The accounts are there for all to see.

The money didn’t go in at £1m per year. Averaging has nothing to do with it. You used it purely to make it look “worse” .

I keep that link above in my bookmarks for the “prince won’t spend owt brigade” with Watkins and Robinson always held as examples of who we should have bought.
Yes they may have been wilders first choices but when he and the club saw the figures quoted they knew it was out of the question!
Would you rather KM had won and sold us to the yanks who are gonna take Burnley to oblivion ?
Thanks to the prince we own the ground , hotel 😏 training ground ect and the books are balanced by and large , Fulham and Bournemouth HAD to go up this season or they were F’ed … gladly we are not in that position.
