I got a tweet accusing me of not watching the game for having a audacity to have a dig at those doing the mocking... GPS location of said tweeter.... well on his way back up towards Abbeydale Road.

Clearly the best thing we could do right now, is destroy the confidence of a player the same people would go mental about selling.
 
Our fans want to see the academy lads coming through, yet when they do, play well 90% of the time, but make a mistake, they mock them!

And yet they also wonder why these talented kids then want to move away from the club!

I left after the 2nd went in, so I didn't see what had happened, and I can't justify the booing, but I think that if Simmo had made a mistake like that last season he would have been crucified. Think it is time to take Long back out of the firing line as he is beginning to look suspect and it's got to be damaging his confidence

you could be right Brownie. At fault for 1 (possibly 2 goals against Hartlepool),needlessly gave a penalty away at Donny and now today.
 
Right I'm off to Boots to buy a bulk load of cotton wool to wrap George up in, some man size tissues in case he cries and some tlc to ease is hurt feelings.....get a grip FFS the lot of yer, he's a professional footballer, if he's good enough to be in the 1st team then he's big enough to take it all, good or bad......it's grounding.

Being good enough to play in goal professionally in no way equates to deserving to be lampooned by a crowd of thousands when mistakes are made.

It wasn't good, not much point in crucifying the keeper though. I wouldn't pay any of them today in buttons.

Can't understand mocking your own team. The point I think Foxy is rightly making is exactly what positive outcome will come from having a pop at a young prospect? Either in the short term when we need him or in the longer term when he is thinking about contract renewal? By all means stick the knife in but don't be shocked when he fucks off at the first opportunity.

But that's just it, no one's paying money to watch a team to take the piss out of, the fans pay their money to watch something better than pub football, and at a club the size of ours to look for something that suggests we're serious about moving forward and not stagnating. Think the last few years of wallowing in shit have softened a few of you and made you more happy to accept where we are currenly. Me? I'd prefer a bit more from MY team.

Yep, I watched two losses by Sheffield United teams today and all I'm bothered about is this.

That or perhaps the subject of this thread isn't "a list of things Foxy is bothered about in it's entirety".

To start a thread with that title is surprising given the absolute drivel and total lack of effort displayed by the team today. As for Long, he has been poor recently. He's let a few soft goals in and his kicking is abysmal - he was fortunate today before he totally messed up when he took his eye off the ball but fortunately it bounced up and hit his thigh. The jeers can't be nice but franky Long & the rest of the team need to man up, compete & start showing some steel and desire.

My point isn't that he can't take it and he should be protected at all, it's that we gain absolutely nothing positive by doing it.

What is it? Character building? Bollocks. The lad knows he's just dropped a bollock, he doesn't need sarcastic jeering when he does something correctly. It does nothing but dent the confidence of a player in a position that requires confidence and make us look like tools.
