Billy Sharp hat trick, top of the league, and fans are streaming out with 10 minutes to go. Full time and the players are walking round to a half empty stadium. Embarrassing.

Nobody is disputing that they can do what they like, just as I / we can feel what we like about them doing it (aside from the last 10 minutes of the game are ruined by constant standing / sitting).
But what can’t be disputed is that it’s not an act of supporting the team, as the OP raised. The old art of vocally supporting the team, to the end, was an undisputed advantage. Leaving in droves because letting the cat out or whatever is more important is clearly just the opposite.
Come off it. I’ve no doubt a very small percentage have a reason to leave early. The vast majority (the rest of the these days seemingly one third of the crowd) are, without a shadow of a doubt, avoiding the traffic.Neither you or I know why individuals leave early. Some might have to get to work, or maybe they need to make a flight. Perhaps they’ve had some unexpected news and suddenly need to leave. Out of 20 odd thousand people there will be a reasonable minority that have to leave early for all sorts of reasons.
Debating whether these people are supporting the team properly only serves to demonstrate one thing.....that in modern society everyone has to have an opinion about everything.....right down to how long someone else stays in their seat and cheers.
Those that want to complain about having to stand up and sit down a lot shouldn’t bother going to any public seated events. That’s life, get over it. Ain’t all about me/you.
We’ve just scored 4, Billy’s bagged a hattrick, beat another good side and we’re top of the league. Again.
Why the fuck are people flooding out the gangways 10 minutes before the whistle?
Unless 4 thousand people just got their houses robbed and have to rush home, I fail to see how taking 30 seconds of your time to support the team that just took us to the top is a massive inconvenience to you.
It baffles me, it’s not hard to wait a minute after the game and clap the players. It takes more energy to walk up flights of stairs to the exit.

And in no way whatsoever is that act ”supporting your team”, as the thread was about.
You could start a new thread if you want to debate “your right to choose”, or whatever other point you’re making,
The traffic-dodgers right to leave early breaches my right to watch my fucking team without having to peer around and over the heads of the departing entitled as they file past.
The truth is they are off to see a movie, which they will leave ten minutes before the end, because they’ve booked a restaurant table, which they’ll leave before dessert, because they’ve recorded Strictly, which they want to watch before learning the results, which they’ll turn off before the last two couples have danced because it’s time for bed, which they’ll leave ten minutes before the alarm goes off because...
Tossers with a right to choose.
It's not a big issue, but a bit of consideration for others makes life a little more pleasant. When I go to the theatre, I don't have to be constantly missing bits of the action with people arriving late from the bar, then going out 15 minutes later, coming back in, going to the bar 5 minutes before the interval to avoid queueing, etc., and then leaving 5 minutes before the end. Makes it easier to enjoy the action... And the final applause is part of the ritual.Neither you or I know why individuals leave early. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The fuckers leaving early ARE the bloody traffic! The traffic-dodgers right to leave early breaches my right to watch my fucking team without having to peer around and over the heads of the departing entitled as they file past.

You’re right, I am totally missing your point.Well that’s just it. You’re missing the point I’m making entirely. Part of that more elaborate point is that it doesn’t matter why people are leaving early. No one has reasonable cause to criticise them for doing so, irrespective of the reason for it.
Don’t think I’ll bother starting that thread thanks. I never leave early myself so it doesn’t really feel like a right I have any reason to fight for beyond my earlier objection, although it seems those that do have to defend their actions to some of you. I could start that thread anyway, if I was a gobshite.
No. I said it's not a big issue. But in the ground, people should bear in mind that what they do has an effect on others. That's all.So what do you propose people do instead? Stay in their seat irrespective of their own responsibilities and free will? Just to satisfy others?
I hate sitting in traffic when I leave home for work. Should I send out a mass email telling everyone in the country to wait at home until after 7am so that I can commute unhindered?

I’ll happily leave the phycology, reasoning and morality of doing it to you to defend.
The whole structure needs knocking down and rebuilding with a safe standing area AT THE FRONT with seating behind.
Anyone could have got a ticket. Snooty just couldn’t be bothered to try and wants something to complain about
Couldn't you just make up a post code? I bet I could have got a ticket. May have had to spin a line, but I would have got one.
On TV commentary now if the pitch side mic picks up any “bad” language the commentator is told to “apologise if you were offended”.
It’s all gone to crap...
I absolutely hate that, it's my latest moan subject when I'm watching footie on telly.
Again, that’s relevant to a bigger blade thread - of which this isn’t one. There are many ways of determining who is the biggest blade ,the most passionate unitedite
Who stays in the ground the longest isn't one of them
No you don't! I was just using that as an example. When my daughter came over from Spain, I phoned the ticket office and explained she lived in Spain, why she wasn't on the data base and that she wanted to attend with her mother, father, sister and son as a family day out and she got a ticket. Depends how much you want a ticket.Thats the whole point, you have to tell a load of lies to buy a ticket for a casual supporter.

I'm not insinuating anything, perhaps things have changed from last season. If I were you, I would tell your friend to get himself registered for next tineYes you do. Try telling them your guest is a middle aged male friend from London. They won't give you a ticket unless he's registered. You can insinuate that I'm lying if you like but this is a fact.

For every game? Not sure why they have done this. I need to get my daughter on the data base. She's over in December again! It's one ticket per supporter this season.
I'm sure the ticket office would explain how to register and add to F&F though, us it's on the OS. And it's hardly difficult.
The club was £30 light as a result of this, not me. if you want to grovel to someone so you can give them your money thats up to you, but judging by the type of posts you put up that describes you to a tee.

Grovel? That’s just a little bit ridiculous, they were only asking for a few details. I’m sure the extra 30 seconds it would’ve taken wouldn’t have killed you.
I’m glad that you disagree with ‘my type of posts’, I’d be concerned if you agreed with them
