Anyone else think it's crap that there is no football show on the TV Sunday mornings?

I'm not sure whats happening with the Prem but generally don't watch it anyway, I'm more intested in the CCC.

There's no Premier League football this morning because the first match isn't until next saturday. You can watch the Football League Show on the BBC iplayer.

I know there is no Prem football this weekend, give me some credit!

Point I was making was that I was not sure if there will be a Sunday program showing the Prem, but I'm not bothered about watching it.

Seeing the program on the iplayer is no substitute for having yer feet up on the settee watching on the big screen with a bacon butty.

Spoilt my Sundays.

Ahhh... Sky + :)

Record the thing late on Saturday night, watch it on Sunday morning.

Not too sure what to make of this Football League show. BBC showed West Brom v. Newcastle yesterday afternoon... so the first game they show on the programme is... West Brom v. Newcastle.

We got about two seconds... showed Yeates shot in first half and Quinnys and the "penalty appeal" and that was about it.

And apparently, they particularly want to hear from Newcastle fans. I think I'm going to get fed up of hearing about Newcastle.

It's in Shearer's contract with the Beeb.

Clause 1736474XVIII (c)

In return for gracing us with His Divine Presence the BBC promises to be sickeningly over the top with our coverage of the Mighty Toon, all praise they who follow them, and will be totally and utterly unbiased in our love of all things Geordie. The rest can get fucked.

It was the Newcastle United show last night, makes me want them to fail more.

Did anyone elses Sky + break off into a short clip from a film during the Chesterfield game ?

Was always foing to be the case to be honest. Compared to 'The Champonship' it seems a far superior programme, with at least most games showing more than just the goals.

Also Grumpy you can watch it via the red button all day, so get your bacon butties, put your feet up and enjoy lad!

Yep, seems to me one of the benefits of being in the Championship has been not having to suffer the insufferable Prem Pundits gushing about the overpaid, poncey 'galacticos' and their morally bankrupt clubs. I am really looking forward to some good, honest, down to earth games against Forest/Derby/Baggies and the like. I think the BBC's infatuation with all things black and white is going to be a right pain in the rear end.

Yes, there was an attractive blonde sitting on a toilet listening to her mobile phone. at first I thought I had accidently pressed my remote control buttons by sitting on it and got confused when I realised that the remote contol was an arms length away from me! I then thought "it might be a ghost playing with it"

Glad it wasn't just mine.

The planner mustn't have been set up properly.

Good start BBC

I had the same slightly unnerving experience with the blonde on the toilet (watching Chesterfield has never been so interesting). Also, the recording ended before the end of the programme. Ho hum. I couldn't be bothered to listen to the dreadful pundits or the 'your e-mails' rubbish - fast-forwarded through all that. I really can't see myself ever watching it 'live'.

Got to agree about the Necastle bias. I think the first clue came when they announced that their first two league games were WBA v Newcastle and Ipswich v ...er... Newcastle. Then BBC Radio 5's Championship start build-up programme was "live from St James' Park, as we team up with BBC Radio Newcastle to examine the Magpies' prospects for the new season, and the teams they'll be playing".

Perhaps, rather than bothering with all the other games, we should only play the games involving Newcastle this season. If Newcastle get more points in their 46 games than anyone else gets in their 2, they go up.

Yep, it happened to a lot of people apparently!

I think it was actually the film being shown on ITV!

oops ,our young un got a bollocking this morning for looking for smut on the telly last night.

We get BBC over here in Switzerland so I'm chuffed that we've got the Championship on BBC... But how silly of me to think that the coverage would be unbiased.

ITV and Sky weren't perfect but at least they try and show some even split...

The CCC is one of the top supported leagues in the world, it was well supported before Newcastle capitulated and came down. I don't feel privledged to have their presence, we have the pigs, Dingles and Donny that are bigger games. They've come to join our league, their diving Spaniards need to get used to it, Newcastle is not our cup final to it

The BBC need to get used to this, I turned off after the first 10 mins.

Its also on too late why can't it be on on a Sunday Morning, or is Something for the weekend, Animal park and the politics show more important?

Same happened with Virgin V+. Some woman sat on the toilet.

Overall, I didn't rate the programme because there was too much talking by the "panel", which concentrated on the "big" clubs. From the highlights you'd think that we were lucky to get a draw, instead of Boro being the lucky ones.

One shot on target instead of 7 by us.

I just sent this to the football league show email

Watching the new football league show I had kept away from a lot of the league scores before watching it.
Before every game came on the presenters seemed to tell what the result was and the commentators all told what was going to happen rather than what had just happened.
This all added up to spoiling my viewing as I wanted to watch what was happening without being told about it before.

Also, there are more teams in the Championship than Newcastle.
The division is/was one of the best supported leagues in the world without them and will continue to be if/when they depart from the division in future.
So the early obsession with Newcastle is in my opinion unnecessary as there are 23 other teams that all warrant equal coverage and concentrating on one team is not a fair representation of the division.

On a positive, the camera quality and lack of adverts is excellent as the ITV coverage was terrible compared.

Hope this is helpful

Would've been nice to see more of the other matches, but it was their televised match so was always going to get a lot of coverage, as I expect other BBC ones will this season.

I think two seconds of ours was more than enough to be honest - very pleased with the point but there weren't many memorable moments!

Nice to see a little bit more coverage being given to the League One & Two matches though, they always used to go by in a blur on ITV!

The woman on the toilet weren't bad tho, what was the film???

Whatever your opinion I'd rather that than the ITV shocking coverage on a Sunday morning!

didnt really enjoy the new football league programme, thought the email read out was rubbish and with the studio and how it was set out looked like it had been done of a budget of about a tenner. (the fact that it showed only about 5 seconds of united match didnt help)

I managed to catch the show online here in the US. It is on at 6.45 pm here - prime time!

Agree that the coverage of us was abysmal. One of the hosts said that for all the other teams in the Championship, playing Newcastle will be "like their cup final". What crap.

On the other hand, there were some decent comments about Hume, who was on the bench for Barnsley v the Pigs. Claridge said that he did not believe there was intent in the Morgan challenge, or words to that effect.

Didn't anyone miss Matt Smiths 10 second................................pauses or the 'artistic' camera angles ?

yes heard that but like been said previously its become the newcastle united show and they didnt evan show our best chance which was treacys, plus i thought some of the time is sounded like claridge and holloway didnt no what to talk about which was really uncomfortable.

Were people really surprised to see us get such little coverage though? After all, the show covers three divisions and we played out a pretty poor, typical start of season, 0-0 draw. Even amongst the draws there were more entertaining ones than ours - with goals!

I forgot to Sky+ this last night but, now that the BBC have it, it means its on the iPlayer

Thought it was a decent show, hate the Newcastle bias though and the texts/emails, its still a million times better than the abysmal highlights show that ITV used to churn out on a Sunday morning, which I rarely used to watch due to being either asleep or hungover......

Oh, and for those that didn't see it, heres the woman on the toilet thing;

Do they actually have a featured match like the championship did? I know Newcastle were on first and couldnt be bothered to watch it again, was it extended highlights?

New site [relatively speaking, dabbled about two years ago] but 28 replies is a record for me.
