They’re both valid - but which should we pay attention to?

More reasonable people lean on probability. It’s based on the real likelihood of something happening.
More unreasonable people will argue & lean more on possibility. It what desperate people rely on.
So whilst we can accept that almost anything’s possible, almost everything’s not probable.

E.g. It’s possible that Gary Numan will have a Christmas Number 1 in the next 3 years. Now, as much as I admire his body of music and thank him for providing the soundtrack to my youth, even I have to accept the Christmas Number 1 is not very probable.

So, when we look at the Championship season so far, we can use that lesson. We’re top of the league at the end of October & probably playing the best football of just about all the sides in it - so we are there on merit & as such, it's probable that will continue.
Of course it’s “possible” we could forget everything that’s got us this far. It’s “possible” the pig-dogs will somehow close the enormous gulf of a gap that’s opening up between us & them. It’s “possible” that Brooks will leave in the January window etc etc. But bearing in mind all the factors that would have to align to make those things happen - they’re much less “probable”.

We will have a stand out season wherever it leads and it’s most “probable" we’ll finish well above the Ipswich Replicas. (A small nod to Gary Numan’s past there).

And this, my friends, is where us and the pig-dog fans differ. All their talk is about what’s “possible” - not what’s “probable” - and that’s what makes them annoyingly entertaining right now. Living on past facts & the in-bred belief that it’s “possible” for the fishmonger, the £20 note destroyer & their squad to not only stop being so shit, but for everyone else to start being shit into the bargain. Yes, it’s “possible” but it’s just not “probable” and the more they talk about it, the funnier it gets.

Whatever happens, this is probably the most enjoyment I’ve got out of being a Utd fan for a hell of a long time - probably ever. I loved the Basset & Warnock eras but I feel differently about what Mr Wilder, his staff and his players are bringing to the Blades.
Could it be I’m appreciating it a bit more after several years in the doldrums? Probably.
Is my middle-agedness meaning I’m taking a different view of what’s going on? Probably.
Will I be singing my head off on Saturday? Probably.
Do I feel like this club is into the 2nd season of an amazing journey? Too fucking right I do.

All depends on the known unknowns, and the unknown unknowns !

No plan maintains it's integrity after first contact with the enemy. It appears up to now we have been the enemy but I suspect we might start meeting a bit more clogasaurus in the future. How we react (and the officials) will decide our future.

If carlsberg did threads....
One thing you ain’t weighed up is this.............based on 14 of our most recent league games (which is how the bookies would look at it)
It is both possible and probable we will be promoted....

...but nowt is guaranteed.
Anyone for a circular debate?

yes Im up for that
bring back the circular , was ok being able to catch a bus at manor top and get to brightside

4 hours later.....
I once went all the way round on the number 2 bus from Crosspool to town - the long way round! The things Grandparents used to do to keep us busy in the 6 weeks holidays.

so we probably will be in the top 6 come end of season, but possibly could go down if we loose all our remaining games....
wise words!
all i know is we ARE top, pigs are wank and were living the dream.
sit back, enjoy the ride, and let's all laugh at Wednesday.... Haha ha ha.
