Personally I think it's great that football is enjoyed by everyone regardless of thier ability , gender , or disability for that matter.

Do I want to watch it or have any interest? Absolutely none .

I think the race and clamour for professional status in the women's game was a mistake based equality.
It took 150 years to screw up men's football with the formation of the Premier league , it took the women's game a far shorter time .

The only clubs who really compete are the big clubs who throw the most money at it.

Good luck to the girls/ women's who wear the badge and represent the club , but like many its not something I have any interest in watching .

So why on earth are you on this thread?

Not really. Your opinion seems to be that you don’t like watching it. That’s fine, but it adds nothing. Nobody’s interested.
Apologies, I'll make sure I contact the thread moderator in future before offering an opinion .
I was mislead by the ? In the thread title which i mistook for inviting opinion ,clearly not the case .

I personally don't have a problem with having a women's side however from an ease of use on the website the filtering system for how you get your news should be a bit better worded/thought out, when you click news, on the slider options here "Club News" refers to the men's side of the club with the Women's News separate as shown below. The "Club News" should really be Men's News as that's what it brings up. Screenshot 2025-07-03 105143.webp

When I was at the 3Arena last week Djurgården have male and female sections on their site so you don't have to wade through the girlie stuff.

I think she was one of a few players that we did attempt to keep but couldn't find a deal that works for club and player. Interested to see where she goes next.

Wrote about some of the retained / released players here (including Farrugia) if anyone's interested: https://womenofsteel.substack.com/p/breaking-down-uniteds-retained-list
Crazy to have signed her on only a year deal. Was a coup to get her (I went to Lewes away the season before last. What a mess... Unbelievable let off to not get relegated... Surely the Americans see the point of investing in the women's team.

You make a valid point about the money already getting imbalanced in the women's game.

TBF not liking something is pretty common. I bet there's a Love Island thread on this forum (don't know as I barely ever click on General Chat) - if I was to comment in there, I'd definitely not be saying anything positive.

The Swiss representative that stuck up for their women's team was right when he said men's football is a different sport, due to biology basically. Don't bother comparing, appreciate them differently.

It's pretty much the norm at this level of the women's game, unfortunately - I guess the financial uncertainty of a lot of clubs mean they don't take the risk. That does now seem to be changing (United have handed out several multi-year deals this summer already) which is great for players and also for the clubs' chance to build something over time. Every player in the squad bar one (Sian Rogers, and that seems to have been an optional extension) was on a one-year contract last year.

Hasn't Devlin been out injured? Maybe a risk to offer more than a year's contract when there's no guarantee of fitness. Maybe the men's team could learn something there!

Sorry, my message above was re: Maria Farrugia. Wasn't clear.

Had a pint with a journalist who covers the womens domestic football a fair amount, and he said playing in the main stadium is a big pull - it might explain our recent success in the market if we're one of the only Tier 2 teams to do so.

Imagine to elation, if the men's team got 8 new signings, all with names we can pronounce, and also that might fit into a song!!

We would have some on here moaning that we only signed players with British sounding names and we were a backwards club. Personally, couldn't give a shiny where any SUFC player (men or women) come from as long as they an do a really good job for the club.
