An update on an old Bladesmad thread I did a while back, these are just the permanent ones (48 of them) and of course and only my opinion. 1-4 or N/A= failure, 5-6= mediocre, 7+ = success.

So roughly:

Failures: 21, or 44%
Mediocre: 21, or 44%
Success: 5, or 10%

What can we conclude? The recruitment has been dreadful, and the waste has been vast. But then we knew that already.

Shows the dire signings...and you have been kind with the ratings, Chris Porter jesus christ. And anyone remotely successful has been sold, so hardly surprising that we are in this mess.

This thread brings home what an omnishambles Clough's transfer policy was. Really depressing reading, and no wonder w're fucking skint.

Robson Mark 2. :(

UTB

Not wishing to be over pedantic :) but why have you rated Sean McGinty - who barely played - but not rated James Wallace? I demand a recount!

That list is so depressing:( Can someone take it to McCabe and ask him if we could sign any of those players?

Think Kitsons rating is harsh as are some of the others. Anyone good sold, shock horror.

55 players brought in. 10% shit, 15% shittier , 75% shittier than the shittiest shit that's ever been shat!

Barry Robson and Danny Higginbotham at 6's stood out for me
I can't remember how many games Higginbotham played but I remember being enormously disappointed with what I saw.

Cuvelier gets the same score as Howard. The former played half a dozen games anonymously over three years and the latter holds the club record for clean sheets and was a penalty hero v the hammers.

...and this exactly what I mean - McCabe has this attitude of "you don't know how good you've got it, Blades fans" and he probably feels as though he has invested. Yes, invested in fucking shite Kev, invested in trying to repair your own mistakes, whilst ultimately making Christ knows how much from McDonald, Murphy, Maguire, Quinn, Lowton, Blackman, Adams...

4 success- Jamie Murphy, Kevin Mcdonald, Billy Sharp and Conor Coady

Murphy only just, as it took him a while to get going, but considering his last 2 seasons with us, he's a success.

Billy Sharp scored 20+ so a success.

Conor Coady was magic at our stranded

Nick Blackman just misses out

Che Adams bullshit he's a success, so he scored a few goals, so many games he played so poorly or was on average, nothing special, Birmingham paid well over the price for him, good business.

And yet some campaigned strenuously for him to be dropped and replaced by Long. That worked out well didn't it?

What did Marlon King do to get a score of four? Find the ground on his sat nav?

Got us a point by scoring under the Jess Ennis stand against Crawley. Funnily enough Jess had precious little to say about this sex offender :P

All relative though. Considering we paid practically nothing for Adams, his 2 goals v Spurs alone would have almost made him a success. Given that we turned a significant profit on him after he had a season as our 2nd top scorer at the age of 19 says that bit of business was a big success. The failure was that in selling Murphy, we became too reliant on the kid from non-league to unlock the doors for us. If we’d kept him, he might have been an even bigger success.

Blackman was a success too. Paid what? £100-200k for him and sold for over a million 6 months later as he was our top scorer. Again, only premature sale prevents him from being a bigger success.

Coady was a success but only a loan. Brayford and Matt Phillips would also fall into that category.

Shocking to see that last season we only signed one proper player. Obviousy Woolford doesn't count. How does a manager expect to succeed with only loanees? I am actually starting to think that Adkins, Clough et al are not to blame for the fiasco that our club has become. If anyone knows how Kevin McCabe can look himself in the mirror each morning then perhaps they could tell me. We are in a downward spiral and there seems to be no end in sight. Maybe non-league football will finally cause KM to cash in his chips and retire. Please tell me I'm wrong.

Didn't we get Blackman on a free
