As a trained observer of natural phenomena I note that there is a strong correlation in the performances of United's defence and attack this season: when the defence has a good game the strikers can't score and when the strikers score goals the defence has a bad game.

blame the midfield then

For us to have conceded 53 goals already, our strikers must have had a lot of good games then!

I commented on this the other day. It seems like the more we concentrate on one area, the other area gets the day off. Hopefully, they'll get the balance right soon.

I would argue that when the defence has a good day, there's a very good chance the strikers score. We've only kept 7 clean sheets this season, but managed to score in 6 of those games and won all 6 of those games. So I would say the correlation is that when the defence does well we usually score and win.

I also commented on this independently from this or other comments! :)

I'd be happy if we sorted the defence out and put 11 men behind the ball at all times if if meant that we got boring 0-0 draws for the rest of the season.

That might have done the trick about 10 games ago, but unfortunately we now need significantly more than one point per game!
