So, we all know we need a goal scorer or two, question is who should we sign come January, that is available, cheap. because for once I'm stumped. I can usually reel them off, but i have no idea, also I'm not even sure we have the money to go out and get one, never mind two. I would be very interested to hear some sensible suggestions.

Cannon at Stoke? Talk of him going back in January.

We are not creating chancers so no striker will fill his boots no matter how good he is.
Support for what we have at present is not good enough,Moore is getting frustrated you can see it in his body language.

Defence really good the rest not good enough ! which has to change or this season will slip away.

think cannon could be one but imo we need 2 strikers and another midfielder to come in even if tom davies gets fit again apart from leeds burnley and sunderland weve nothing to fear in this league we just need more goals

Tom Cannon if we can, would be a very good addition, but will all depend on if we have the money the backing and the rest of it come january, if not we will be looking at another loan which might not be effective enough, unless Leicester let him come to us on a loan to buy move.

The mobility up top is something we need to look at as Moore is not the most mobile of players and sometimes the advantage we can have on a break is not exploited as he tends to not be were he needs to be, and the advantage passes by.

Agree with that. I think we need to be more direct. I also think we need to play wingers who can cross. This cutting inside does Moore no favours. Especially Rak-Saki who rarely passes/crosses

Anyone we get would absolutely be a loan, imo. I don’t think we could afford to buy a good quality striker, but the main reason is we need flexibility in the squad for if we go up or indeed want to strengthen next season for another go at it. I therefore don’t think we’d go looking to buy in Jan.

I’d be keen for one of the press to ask wilder how Oné is developing and how far off he is. He still travels to every away game and goes through warm up drills even though he isn’t named in the squad, so he must be close?

Lots of talk about our current compliment of strikers and it had me reminiscing.

Lys Mousset, for all his flaws, was the last forward we had who had both power and pace, as well as could stick it in.

I look around the Championship and see Maja, Bayo, Simms, Latte Lath, even Isidior (Sunderland) who spun Souttar a couple of times.

We on the other hand, have Moore, a great target man but we aren't playing to his strengths, Campbell, more a poacher (he was scoring with his one and only touch some halves), and our favourite Brewster - less said the better.

"But we are top" and "don't panic", I hear you say. Both true, but we have relied on our defence this season since we don't create a great deal and are not blessed with goals, and that defence just got significantly weaker (we're back to the partnership of last year). So unless we can somehow keep our defensive strength going, don't be surprised to see us struggle at the other end.

Gettable/realistic: Tom Cannon (with the right deal), Ricky Jade-Jones (I know some people on here aren't keen), Haji Wright (not sure about his contract at Coventry)

Possible but unsure: Ashley Barnes (isn't Sargent still injured which would make Barnes the second choice striker), Andre Grey (apparently his contract at Plymouth ends in January)

Zero chance: Latte Lath, Isidor, Maja, Bayo and Simms (if this was the summer maybe but not January)

Ugbo hardly gets a look-in down the road. He was quite good last season, but not scored this time round. Controversial I know but I can't imagine we'll be able to sign an experienced striker in the JTW without being totally ripped off. Worth looking in Championship squads to see who isn't getting a look-in. We need the kind of Madine signing. Not saying Ugbo is the answer but that kind of player may be worth a look.

Nathan Blake was another who had power and pace and could score.

If we want to take a flyer, and it would be a flyer, Kone at Wycombe is worth a look. It's his first proper season in pro football, he's got the physicality to play at the top level, isn't slow, has scored 11 goals already this season and is only 21. He could bomb but he also could be worth 20m in a years time. He doesn't fit into Wilders 'experienced bucket' but if we are going to uncover a top striker this is the sort of gamble we will have to take.

Are you American?

Well it is CENTRE in English not fucking center which is yank. FWIW a lot of our language is derived from French thus ends 're'. The yanks love logic thus they go 'er'.

That's fine until their choice of words makes a complete dogs bollocks of it all. So what route are you taking from Sheffield to Portsmouth becomes what rout are you taking . . . . Which of course is total shit and means something completely different. A bit like missile and missel which at this time of year is usually accompanied by toe.

I just hate the americanisation of our language. I blame Gates. Bill not Eric or Pearly.

Language changers due to all sorts of influences as you say we take a lot of words from France and also germania influences.

Signing anyone just now would be a problem,
They don't know for sure which Division they will be playing in next season..... :tumbleweed:

5 strikers fit to choose from then. Campbell, Moore, Brewster, Cannon and BBD.
weve enough strikers now who can score at this level but they need more service especially from out wide we still piss about playing little triangles instead of just getting the ball in to the box its as if were constantly just trying to score the perfect goal

That'll be the inverted wingers... I don't mind it for a bit to mix things up but generally I want to see wingers tearing down the wing and banging it in with their good foot.
