......... you watched a Blades game or saw the results come in?

Following on from a post in the highs & lows thread.

League Cup semi v Liverpool - First leg

I watched the game on South African TV in a lodge on the edge of the Kruger park. Open bar, thatched roof, me and the missus the only ones in the bar keeping the barman up. Never seen such a look of utter incomprehension as that on his face as I went through every emotion culminating in jumping off the bar stool when Tonge scored the winner - punching the missus in the nose (by mistake) in the process

I watched the cup game vs man city while in koh samet (Thai island south of Bangkok). it was on a massive outdoor projector screen. there is nothing like watching the blades on a beach on a big screen at night while it's still 30c and you're drinking cheap alcohol. it was amazing

Watched the Stevenage play off away leg in a student pub near me and was basically the only person watching a big screen with no volume , didnt bother me though

I watched the stevenage game in a bar in benidorm ,sticky Vicky was next door and caused an exodus in the second half which was disappointing. Some pigs came in shouting come on stevenage not realising 16 blades were in ,a good boot up the arse and they trotted off into the night :)

The Premier League. What were we doing there? It will however be a cold, cold day in hell before we get there again.

In 1999 Bert went to the top floor of the Hotel Nacional in Havana, climbed out of a window and sat on the roof to get a signal on his short wave radio so that he could find out how United had gone on.

Also, he was sat in a small sailing boat on the Upper Nile listening to the commentary on the World Service as Brian Deane scored the first ever Premier League goal.

Sticky Vicky still alive? She must be 110 :)

I borrowed an iphone off a friendly tourist in Sri Lanka, when the hotel internet computer room was taken over by the Sri Lankan cricket team, to listen to Bladesworld commentary. We beat Hartlepool 1-0. Said tourist was so impressed with my dedication, even though I was greeted with 'Here for the cricket, we're only here for the cricket' that we got friendly and have just been invited to his 30th. Will have to decline as we play Crawley at home that day, but he'll understand. :)

I watched the youth cup final 1st leg on a stop half way up machu picchu on a terrible internet stream.

I also did this for the home leg. Me and my mate made the 3 girls in front of us sh*t their selves when we scored!!

Taipei, capital of Taiwan, Feb 2005, I was glued to my friend`s computer reading teletext, cheering as Bergkamp got sent off at Highbury and we got a draw.

Why didn't Bert get a young Cuban lady with a penchant for middle aged british men to find the scores out for Bert.

After Brownie's trip to the Dominican Republic where there was an influx of single middle aged british people enjoying holiday romances with young Dominican's, Brownie has always wondered what the sexual attraction was all about.

From the toilets at plough lane. It was torrential rain and that was the only shelter. The windows were smashed so you could see the game.

Unlike you Brownstuff Bert does not announce every detail of his life on public message boards ie the arrests, the alcholism, the divorce, the depression, the struggle to make ends meet etc.

Bert might go to Cuba with his wife or be there on business........ but you aren't ever going to find out.
.
PS Bert has been to the Dominican Republic, the place was crawling with bummers. Hope you and your friend enjoyed it.

I think I was in there too. Was that the year Fashanu tried to give us 2 pens?

UTB

I watched the United vs Wednesday match in September 2009 in a British theme pub in Minneapolis. It was lunchtime there so I was leaping about on my own to the bemusement of a bunch of office workers on their lunch break.

Hillsborough.

One of the best things about being in with pigs at the sty is when the Blades score.

Jump up and in total ectasy slag the pigs off for being absolutly shite at the top of your voice and no-ones bothered cus they are all thinking the same thing!!

Perverse pleasure in shouting "you really are the worst f***ing team in the world" at the top of your voice whilst in with the pigs and they all agree.

Two games in New York in one week for me.

The first I was walking to Madison Square Garden for the New York Rangers v Philadelphia Flyers game when we beat Barnsley at home on the Tuesday night in the promotion season. That was followed by an Irish Bar just off Times Square to watch the game at Reading on Good Friday.

When Brian Howard scored me and my mate went absolutely mental, along with another bloke at the side of us who it turned out had moved to NYC from Woodseats. Unbelievable coincidence. The locals were baffled to see 3 idiots jumping around for the 'soccer'!

They were probably just in shock that Mr Howard escaped his hiding place long enough to score... I know I was.

I watched the Stevenage play-off game from BDTBL in The George pub on the Strand.
One of the most surreal moments of my fifty two years was walking into a pub in the middle of London and finding that it was full of Blades, who had attached a United flag to the wall and most of whom were wearing the red & white stripes.
Although it made me feel bloody homesick, it was a magical sight and evening, the pub seemed to go ballistic when Porter scored and once again, I realised what unique and special supporters we have.

We didn't get promoted that season.
