Still 4 to play

If we clinch the title in any of the next two games, surely Sky will hijack things and demand any presentation of a trophy on their channel?

My take on it is that there is a strange fascination in some of us to watch kids play. Good, bad or Fucking useless, let's select some players who aren't yet good enough for the first team and may never be, because they are...well....young.

There are much more deserving players who are not good enough who, if anyone, should be givenarun. Done, Wilson, Scougall for example, all of whom have played a part in an outstanding season.

The kids have some important kids games to play, I believe. Let them get on with those and avarunintfestteam if and when they're good enough.

Alternatively we can cease to be a professional football club and operate like a Sunday League U-15s. Such football is available to watch at a park near you free of charge. If you're lucky there'll be some alehouse hoofing on an adjacent pitch for good measure. S2 Bladey Boyband Heaven.
I bet you are fun at parties.

I find it bizarre anyone can say the kids aren't good enough when they haven't played a first team game... Brooks, Wright Jnr, Slater anyway. They've got plenty of promise, even 20 mins in a real 'mans' game will bring their game on leaps and bounds. Reed, Long fair enough you can judge if you like, but not those who haven't played.

I'm really struggling to find ANY problem with doing that...

Only children's... We play Blind Man's Hoof; Pass and Move the Parcel and Pin the Tail on the Sammon.

I make sure I Givemarun. I Givemallarun.
You are literally suggesting that Done gets a run... Head. Wobble.

So now we are not allowed to like the academy prospects either
Being a blade must be so much fun for you

You cant appreciate former players or managers
The fans are all thick and love hoof
And now the youth players you've never seen aren't good enough either

They patently are not at the moment. They would be in the first team if they were. One or two (experience dictates not many) may be up to the required standard in due course. Don't bet on it though. The overwhelming majority fall by the wayside.

It's their job to play so well at their own level that the manager can't leave them out. It's called merit. It's how it works in professional football.

We have no obligation to give little Jonny, Jimmy or Jose a 'run' or 'game time'. Professional football is not a Saturday evening 'talent' show.

Ironside...... Ironside......

Have to agree with this.

If Wilder came out and said Brooks was to be involved for the forthcoming games because he deems him ready and has performed at U23 level then so be it.

But just to include youngsters for the sake of it would be piss poor.

what a stupid thing to say[/QUOTE]

Why is it?

Academy players on the whole DON'T make it, that's a fact.

Academy players should play well to get a shot of the first team, thats surely in agreement by all?

We shouldnt play acedemy players for the sake of it, again surly common sense?

How the heck does he know that ,they might be the next maradonna but if you dont play them you never know

Because if they were the next Maradonna then Wilder might have picked up on that by now and played them.

Precisely. They are given every opportunity to excel at their own level. Those who do will be progressed further. It's natural selection in action and it's a tough world I'm afraid, but rightly so. The Givemarun philosophy really is Sunday League thinking and becoming a little embarrassing to read.

No, we are both making common sense points that seem to be beyond your contemplation. I fear you have been watching too many kids running around playing fields; a worry in itself.

That's one of the most ridiculous comments I've read in a long time.

Where did I even mention that they are all shit??! Quote me and I'll apologise.

Let me get this straight - because I back the judgement of Wilder, who hasnt yet seen fit to inlcude untested academy players in the the first team, I must think that they are 'shit'?

What Im saying, if any of the academy prospects were currently making it impossible for CW to ignore, then they would be involved. Because we have secured promotion shouldn't alter his thinking.

No let's hope they (whoever fucking 'they' is) one day prove themselves worth a 'run out' [schoolboy phrase though it is]. When they do, Tufty will select them. He likes to have his best players on the pitch, though, young, old or in between. I share that philosophy.

I was responding to pinchys post that our academy players aren't good enough when you came wading in with a completely seperate argument defending him

January window just gone . Sold for £2.5m picked , played , sold . I have yet to see a youngster who is good enough , so let's keep selling them

If , if we had a young Maradonna , , a Currie , he would be in the first team and be a integral part of our future .

At the moment it's a blank sheet of paper , unfortunately .

But they aren't good enough for the first team yet, or CW would have included them, or do you not trust his judgement?

I dont think Pinchy needs defending, nor was that my aim, we merely share a common understanding on how academy players should be treated.

I think it's out of order to just say players aren't good enough when you haven't seen them play

**Bangs head against brick wall**

If they were currently good enough, CW would have selected them!!
