He was born in Ireland, McCarthy was born in Barnsley.

When I was a kid Heighway supporting the Blades was like some weird folklore....it didn’t seem possible.
However as already stated he lived in Sheffield for a few years as a boy and during his school years supported the Blades.

Patrick McGoohan, too, although to really confuse things I think he was actually born in the US.

Ha ! It's a definite then - I was Ecclesfield School captain 1983. Can remember playing you and your place. Can't remember who won , but I can remember enjoying bowling down that slope.
