Stephen Jordan

Our friends at The Mirror but;

"Former Burnley defender Stephen Jordan has rejected a contract offer at Portsmouth to join Championship rivals Sheffield United."

According to his wikipedia entry "Jordan was released by Burnley after three injury filled seasons with the club". Sounds like he'd fit right in.

Yep, 70 odd games in 3 seasons. A product of Man City's academy, seems to have been well thought of when he's actually played. My Burnley mate says he was one of their better players in the 1st half of the Prem season last year.

At the end of the day, I guess it's another no fee signing for someone who has done well although you do wonder why Burnley have released him.

Wouldn't be wholly against this to be honest. His wages would presumably be less than Dickinson's, he'd be a permanent signing rather than another loan, and Taylor is a perfectly competent alternative despite suggestions to the contrary.

Stephen Jordan were brilliant at man city

Dickinson?

Does that mean that the loan of Dickinson from Stoke is off then?

She's an ugly sket with no talent and no redeeming features.
God knows what people see in her. A case of celebrity overdrive gone mad.
Cannot abide the tart.

In his three seasons he started 21, 27 and 25 games.

Accordingly, some will say he's a crock, though he may not have been picked on occasions, he wasn't necessarily always injured.

Others would say he played two thirds of their season in the Prem.......

Albeit in just about the leakiest defence in Premiership history

The Sun Super Goals has Jordan down as a key IN player for us. Has he actually signed?

Great news. According to that article, he's also managed to lose 5 years. Perhaps he's not even injury-prone either!

On o/s site now!

Mentions 1 of 3 recruits so fingers crossed

I may be being a bit thick but I sort of take that comment to mean he's the third defensive recruit (Kozluk & Nosworthy being the other two). Dunno though, suppose you could take it either way.

Things must be tight if we're only giving out one year contracts! Why didn't we do that when we signed Hendrie!!!

Reckon that the length of contract will be down to his injuries and i would imagine if he plays well and is in the team until christmas he'll be signed on a longer deal, ala Cresswell

Don't think so, unless I've got wrong end of the stick

Bartley by the end of the week according to RS this morning (they also said Stewart signing today) and Blackie has said another by the end of the month

Fingers crossed

We even gave Ryan France a two-year deal. To get anything less than two years at this club, Jordan must have hobbled his way through his medical, tripped up over his feet when simply walking around the stadium, and inadvertently mubbled "my knee ain't feeling great" during contract negotiations.

Stewart? which stewart is that?

From BBC:
"I'm hoping that Carl Bartlett will be coming in this week, and Nyron Nosworthy will also hopefully get fit," Blackwell said

This Bartlett better be good. I wonder if he's as good as Matt Kilgannon or Roger Nilsson at centre half.

Mubbled? I like that!

;)

Oh dear, Steve Cotterill is not happy - Shame

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6302794,00.html

Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill has voiced his displeasure after Stephen Jordan snubbed a move to the South Coast in favour of Sheffield United.

Pompey looked to have secured the services of the 28-year-old full-back following his release from Burnley at the end of last season.

Jordan trained with Pompey in pre-season, however a last-minute change of heart has instead seen him set his sights on a move to Bramall Lane.

A less than impressed Cotterill said: 'I'm very disappointed in him - but that's him. He knows my feelings and thoughts.

Leniency
"My thoughts about Stephen Jordan will stay with him."

Really good signing! A decent, experience left back for Taylor to learn from
