Difficult and harsh to judge a keeper off 1 game but based on the below from May 2024 (United U21s 4-2 Swansea City U21s), unless he has improved massively from here, he isn't ready yet for Championship football. He flapped at a few, although their 1st goal was a peach, being 6'2 and having a weak defence in front of him he will be getting more of those fired at him. Their 2nd goal he was at fault and couldn't get a strong enough arm for a fairly tame shot that squirmed underneath. With the whole ethos of you can only play what's in front of you and all that, that is all I have seen of him to be able to judge as a keeper what he brings. He isn't particularly tall or imposing, he would struggle to boss players about especially at senior level. Although Davies isn't the option, he is the only one we have if Cooper is injured. An earlier post mentioned bringing in Forster on a temporary deal, personally even though he is 37, I would if we could until the end of the season even £1million signing on fee and £30k a week, he would be worth the approx £1.7mill if we stayed up. He is 6'7, brings a lot of experience with him and would be worth it, even if you ended up dropping him to the 2nd keeper when Cooper is back fit. Faxon could then go out on loan for regular men's football and we will see what league we are in as to where we go from there come summer.

We need to be looking at Scott Carson or Fraser Forster. Either is an infinitely better option than Davies. Make no mistake, if it's a long term injury to Cooper, we will be relegated with Davies in the net.

Scott Carson is a ) retired and b) has played a grand total of 107 minutes of professional football in 6 years.

If he csbt get ahead of Davies, he may as well hang gloves up now or if not given a chance push a transfer out if club, beacuse that Davies is sunday league levels. I couldn't pick out who is worse out of him or Grbic.

I don't think we can lay any blame for the goals on Adan Davies today.
I think it’s that he inspires no confidence and every time he plays we end up conceding goals.

First one, it was a decent strike. Not a rocket. Some keepers would have got across.

Second, it’s always hard to say when there is a deflection.

The one where he supposedly came out to narrow the angle when Mee made a hash of it, well, I assume he missed the maths classes on angles as he made it so simply for him.

Fourth, well I’d still got my head in my hands. Remind me!

He wasn't at fault for any of the goals. Still, must have a scapegoat.

He wasn’t at fault for the goals so it’s hard to criticise today, particularly with Hugh, Pugh and Barney McGrew in front of him.

The whole defence were poor today but difficult to pick anybody out “Hoover” can have a rest day from being picked on with him being new to the club, Mee wasn’t at his best but coming back after a few games out and pairing of McGuinness is never going to end well. Not helped but Davies

Completely agree. Their No.18 (Oates)? gave us the runaround. The new lad looked miles off it. Mee was treading treacle. Very poor defensively today.

We conceded 4 (four) goals to Mansfield with him in net. Also, he definitely is at fault for the fourth.
Do we just forget how many goals Cooper has conceded this season ? It’s not always the keepers fault.

If I were in his shoes, I'd be looking to leave to a club willing to give me a chance over a bonafide scarecrow.

The thing about Cooper is, he's in bad form but still miles miles better than Davies. Not hard like.

Here's a thought. Why don't you just judge him on each performance rather than pre conceived ideas.
Because he's fucking horrendous. Every time. He shouldn't even be 'performing' for us. He should be playing for Barrow every week.

He did show him a lot of the near post for some reason. Bizarre goalkeeping but I don’t think he could have positioned himself to save that. Mee letting a league 2 Kieffer Moore wannabe outpace him was the issue.
