We've spent "some" money.

MUFC spent 29% of the fee they received for Ronaldo that season. They sold more than just him too.

Let's say Murphy was sold for £1.5m, i'm not sure of the exact fee. We spent £500k on Sharp which is 33% of fees received. If we sold him for £2m - 25%

Fair enough and I said when we signed Sharp someone would be going to fund it - I guess I was right.

Isn't hindsight wonderful?

Search the word Garmston on this forum. You will see 6 results.. 7 when i finish typing this. Clearly no fucker on here had ever heard of him until this season.

I'd never heard of him, but Wikipedia tells me he's extremely quick so on that basis I reckon we sign him! Also his Father is a top physiotherapist so we could include him in the deal to help our ever expanding treatment room :)

Silent Blade

No actually I said sacking the manager that late in the season wasn't the answer and the blame was with his superiors for selling Blackman at Christmas.

So put that in your pipes and smoke it.

You actually said:

"The players - they huff and they puff they barely shoot (yes we hit post twice, where was follow up) but you knew once we went 1 down that was it,we don't take risks and we constantly sign shit on loan Forte was not good enough previously - at least Blackman had a shot! Why can't we play 1-2 or pass and move? We look frightened in the final 3rd!!!! One moment summed it all up for me last night, in the first half the ball was in the final third and Murphy looked confused as to what to do and even when the ball went into the box we had no one at the front post and no one from midfield following up. What do they do in training?

The Fans- best in the world 80 odd years of winning fuck all to constantly turn up in numbers. They deserve much better, we constantly get lied to all our best players go but still blindly follow. Also they get the blame for the insipid performances!!!! The fans got behind them last night as they do most weeks to be rewarded with what can only be described as shit."

You asked me specifically about Wilson. :-)

Hard to argue with any of that though unless like some on here you blindly defend everything .

I don't doubt they're doing something. Quite what it is I'm not sure.

And there's a reason we've been a downward spiral ever since Sir Derek died, McCabe knows as much about football as your average American, yet he is arrogant enough to think he knows what he's doing.
You really do have brought a new depth to this forum ,well done. Just because you brag of a weekend off doesn't mean you have to post double the amount of ignorant crap to make up for it.

Nah. Just two and a half years on and the record has not changed. After 50 years of supporting them, you learn. Honest.

As has been pointed out about 10 million times, we're only favourite with the bookies due to who we are, just like we have been for the last 5 years!

Has absolutely nothing to do with our actual likelihood of being promoted!

A million times eh Pete, OK, I'll say this just the once - we are favourites to go up because we have the best squad and probably the best manager - I say "probably" because there are a couple of promising newcomers who have great quality. When things are said a "million times" it doesn't make them true and in any case a couple of "wise heads", including you, have stated the "fact" just a few times in truth;)

Anyway, we are well in touch with the auto spots after 12 games and we have Brayford to return plus Harris, plus Kennedy, plus Coutts, plus J.Wallace and Done is gradually getting fitter and has two goals already. Sharp has bags of goals in him as does Adams and our bench is getting stronger and stronger.

We have these fans on here who could not do fan morale much more harm if they were Wendys. If I were a Wendy who wished to damage Blades fans' morale I would write some of the OP's and posts I see on here. This OP is crude and pointless unless it's intended to create disharmony.

Oldham away is not a bad point, whatever anybody may have led themselves to expect and yes we could have won. However no team in any dividion can guarantee 3 points. On Saturday Burton got stuffed 4-0 in a game they were favourites to win. Walsall lost at home to Chesterfield. They were top 2, so we gained a point on both.

Folk say this is an easy division to win this season. That may well be true to a degree, but it does not mean there are any easy points, far from it. Any team can beat another, home or away, but it all pans out by the end of the season.

In the meantime certain fans seem intent on stirring up anti Board and anti-manager resentment and it does not help at all - that's what Wendys want.

It's nothing to do with our squad.
It's nothing to do with our manager.
It's nothing to do with our youngsters.

We've been favourites ever single year we've been down in this league.

It's been stated that many times because some people understand a bit better than you how odds work.

In that case you have a real opportunity to back against them by laying the bet on such as Betfair - money for old rope.

Were it not for your allegiance to the Blades, would you bet against them, honestly? I wouldn't.

Amazing, brain numbing stuff from you. What is ignorant exactly? And I'm not entirely sure that's bragging, old chum...

This season? Or last? Or the one before that? Or the one before that? Or the one before that?

Here and Now. You say I don't understand odds, but you offer me 2/1 against United getting promoted THIS season and I'll have £30 with you. Money where my mouth is like.

Your original post, which I questioned, said 'we were favourites to win the league and rightly so' so I'll take your 2-1 bet against us winning the league, sure.

Although I genuinely don't like betting against United and wouldn't enjoy winning so let's make it a bet to a charity of your choice?

I see what he did there Pete. Just like you did. Bad form. Bad form.

Kop out.

If you were really putting your money where your mouth was, you'd stand by your original post.

As, to quote you, we are quite rightly still favourites to win the league.

OK I'll call your bluff -5/1 to win the league. I'll wage a tenner. Proceeds to charity of the losers choice -via S24SU

Evening Woody. 2/1 for promotion when the bookies are at around 6/5 and 5/1 for outright when 4/1 is pretty much an average. Very crafty.

Pete reckons I know nothing about odds - it's all for charity anyway. Fancy a go?

I'm glad there's a witness to him changing his terms, his bet, his odds and his stake to suit and the claiming he's putting his money where his mouth is and I'M copping out!!

I'm yet to hear you explain why we've been favourites the last 5 seasons unless we've had the best manager, the best squad and the best upcoming talent every season?

Not my point, please keep to the only point you picked up on in "my original post". Yes or no? It is for charity, bad form not to surely?;) Perhaps the other Brother Grim will go halves:)

Your original bet at your original odds of £30 at 2/1? As I said in my original answer, I accept that bet yes.

It's for charity.

How come you get to keep changing the bet, the stake and choose your own odds yet make out like it's my bad form?
